Thursday afternoon we began our Spring rankings updates, beginning with the Class of 2024. This class is extremely strong on the perimeter, and there are a variety of talented and skillful wings for colleges to consider. Below I’ve highlighted the Top-10 wings we have ranked. The list in this article is comprised of who we feel are the best big guards and small forwards in the Class of 2024 as of today.
1. Ellery Minch Ellery Minch 6'3" | PF Mt. Vernon (Fortville) | 2024 State IN , 2024, 6-2 SF, Mount Vernon H.S. (Fortville) – Ellery is an incredibly versatile, skillful wing who can do a variety of things. She’s tall enough to get inside to rebound and defend. But she is skilled with the ball in her hands, like a point forward, and she is a capable perimeter shooter. She already holds a couple of Division-I offers.
2. Alexis Castator Alexis Castator 6'1" | SG Fort Wayne Northrop | 2024 State IN , 2024, 6-0 SG/SF, Carroll H.S. (Fort Wayne) – Alexis was a key piece to the Charger lineup this year, and I think as she ages, she’ll become more of the focal point in their offense. She is long, wiry strong, and fluid/smooth. She can handle it and create offense, plus she can knock down an open jumper with ease.
3. Destini Craig Destini Craig 5'9" | PF Fort Wayne Northrop | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-10 SF, Fort Wayne Snider H.S. – Destini is a strong, physical, but athletic forward, and she can play an undersized power forward role when necessary. But she is also good off the bounce, she can knock down the occasional 3-pointer, and I think long-term she is a wing at the next level.
4. Aniyah Bishop Aniyah Bishop 5'10" | SF Lake Central | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-9 SF, Lake Central H.S. – Aniyah is a long, somewhat slender, but smooth, fluid athlete with some explosion in her game. She is great in the open floor of transition making plays off the bounce, and she’s starting to be much more efficient in the half-court against set defenses.
5. Scarlett Kimbrell Scarlett Kimbrell 5'11" | SF Franklin Community | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-11 SG/SF, Franklin Community H.S. – Scarlett is known as a lethal perimeter shooter, and if you get into her, she’ll just keep scooting back. However, she has some wiry strength, she’s likely not done growing either, and she is starting to attack the basket a lot more and finish inside.
6. Sophie Johnson Sophie Johnson 6'0" | PF Evansville Memorial | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-9 SF, Evansville Memorial H.S. – Sophia had a great opportunity at the end of the season when several of Memorial’s starters were out. She made several nice plays and flashed great potential. She is a long, athletic playmaker who takes on almost a point forward role, but she can shoot it a little too.
7. Brylee Delano Brylee Delano 5'10" | SF Evansville Mater Dei | 2024 IN , 2024, 5-10 SF, Evansville Mater Dei H.S. – Brylee is a strong, physical wing with a soft touch from outside. She can create space with the dribble, knock down perimeter jumpers consistently, but she can also get inside the mid-post and hit the 15-footer or pursue rebounds, plus she’ll finish through contact.
8. Kendall Sterling Kendall Sterling 5'10" | SF Seymour | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-9 SF, Seymour H.S. – I have gained a real appreciation for Kendall over the last year. She has a solid to strong frame, some length, and she plays with a great motor. But it’s her ball skill, vision, and IQ for the game that stand out. She’s always productive and efficient on the floor.
9. Brooklyn Bell, 2024, 6-1 SF, Greenwood Community H.S. – Brooklyn is somewhat of an unknown on the statewide level, but she is definitely intriguing in terms of her college potential. She is extremely long, tall, and fairly fluid as an athlete. She has ball skills and is a point forward type, plus she’s still growing.
10. Emma Haan Emma Haan 5'8" | SG Zionsville | 2024 State IN , 2024, 5-7 SF, Zionsville Community H.S. – Emma plays with as much heart and motor as anyone in this 2024 class. She is tough-nosed, physical, and she just does what needs to be done for her team to win. She had a nice season for Zionsville, and she continues to work on building her skillset.
