Christeen Iwuala Christeen Iwuala 6'1" | C Reagan | 2022 State TX -6’1 (San Antonio Reagan)
Nothing she does surprises me anymore, she uses her body very well around the basket and I’ve watched not only her “hands and footwork” improve over the years but her ability to finish, with players literally hanging on her. The rebounding has always been there yet she goes after everything on both ends and understands how to ignite the break. She runs the floor, plays solid interior defense, and still has some upside
Kiersten Johnson Kiersten Johnson 6'3" | C Duncanville | 2022 State TX -6’3 (Duncanville)
Johnson’s jump from the last time I saw her was just amazing, yeah she’s long and athletic and that, one more time, is the base that I start with on many players yet she is showing me something very special, the potential to control a game on both ends of the court. She finishes around the basket, she faces the basket and scores, and seeing her play the passing lane and handle the ball coast to coast was impressive, not to mention she has also had very good timing to block, alter and or deflect shots
Kaylee Howell Kaylee Howell 6'2" | C Rockport Fulton | 2022 State TX -6’2 (Rockport Fulton)
Howell can play the post as well as both forward spots and that’s a good thing because she brings so much to the table. She probably could play the 3 at many problems because I love big guards that can shoot yet, more importantly, so do college coaches, and with her ability to create her shot to knock the mid to long-range down as well as attack from the wing, she brings a lot to the table offensively yet she sets the table by rebounding, defending and playing the passing lane
Marlissa Watson Marlissa Watson 6'1" | C Waco | 2022 State TX -6’1 (Waco)
Watson doesn’t need Sherlock to solve any mysteries and watching her progression every year from being just a back-to-the-basket decoy to evolve into what she’s becoming has been impressive. She has a college-ready frame to absorb the punishment that comes in the paint yet she has shown that she can handle it, giving and taking but her improvement at finishing around the rim as well as going after the ball keeps climbing, as well as she’s added some nice moves in the paint
Samantha Ising Samantha Ising 6'3" | C Hebron | 2022 State TX -6’3 (Hebron)
Ising was upgraded because of her progression and I talked about her upside so to see her continuing to progress is a definite plus. When you understand the basics and get the fundamentals down, especially with her size, more times than not, things fall into place, and when you add things like “athleticism” and “desire” because she’s definitely one of those “you won’t outwork me” types of players. She’s running the floor even better as well as finishing with both hands and not only defending inside the paint but outside of it as well
