With Prep Girls Hoops recently updated the class of 2023 player rankings, we will take a look at the Newcomers to the rankings. This group of sophomores is very deep and extremely talented with a lot of them getting quality minutes on their varsity teams and really performing well.
This rankings update includes a small increase in the number of players ranked from 82 to 89. As this class stays with it, I can see it growing even more in the future.
Let’s take a closer look at newcomers to this rankings update!

<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="257875" first="Bri" last="Collins"] 5’6" Ι Hancock</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>A solid combo guard with good basketball instincts and the ability to get to the rim with either hand. She can play on or off-ball and is a good defender. She can score at all three levels and plays at a good pace. Bri is an unselfish player with good court vision and playmaking ability.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> [player_tooltip player_id="251979" first="Taryn" last="Blevins"] 5’5" CG Ι Marquette</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>An outstanding combo guard who is dynamic with the ball in her hands. Taryn is an elite three-level scorer with range out to three, a really solid mid-range game, and can finish at the rim. She is unguardable on the perimeter with her quick first step and her solid frame. She plays bigger than her size and is a solid on-ball defender. She is crafty and has excellent court vision and awareness.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="258704" first="Bre" last="Dudley"] CG 5’7" Ι Central St. Joseph</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>An excellent combo guard that is a great defender and has elite-level basketball instincts. Bre is an elite shooter from three with deep range behind the arc. She can finish at the rim with either hand and has good speed playing in transition. She finishes through contact and really competes on both ends.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="252296" first="Lauren" last="Friedrich"] 5’11" PF Ι California</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>A wing forward that can do it all on both ends of the floor. Lauren is an elite-level post defender with her shot-blocking ability. She is a knockdown shooter from three with range past the three-point line. She has an excellent basketball IQ and finishes well in transition at the rim. Her length and athleticism allow her to defend on the perimeter and get steals.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="252297" first="Brooke" last="Reutter"] 5’5" CG Ι Helias</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>A solid lead guard with a high basketball IQ. Brooke sees the floor well and understands how to run the team. She does not get sped up and stays under control. She has quick hands on defense and competes at a high level.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="215859" first="Katherine" last="Sievers"] 5’9" CG Ι Columbia Rock Bridge</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>A solid guard that defends and knocks down open threes. Katherine plays passing lanes well and finishes at the rim out of transition. She plays within herself and does not force shots. High basketball IQ and good court awareness.</li>
</ul>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="252298" first="Kaelyn" last="Johnson"] 5’10" SF Ι Battle</span></strong>
<ul>
<li>An elite-level shooter from three, Kaelyn has a great understanding of how to move off-ball creating space to get her shot off. She rebounds and defends without fouling. Good basketball instincts and plays at a good pace. Great court awareness and plays within herself.</li>
