I paid for a subscription to watch some of the playoff games, the feed was bad, games didn’t show however one, in particular, was archived that had Cedar Park defeating Beaumont United 75-51 in one of the 4 regional finals in the 5A classification. I hadn’t seen BU all season however they defeated defending regional champ College Station to have a chance against the team I thought would win the region and the 26-1 Timberwolves are definitely on a mission with their lone loss being against star-studded 6A Cibolo Steele by 2 points
With numerous PGH Top 100 players, 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="136335" first="Alisa" last="Knight"], 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="96925" first="Shelby" last="Hayes"], and a couple of 2023 players, [player_tooltip player_id="134028" first="Gisella" last="Maul"] and [player_tooltip player_id="96143" first="Molly" last="Ly"], I called #D1Locks in middle school before being copied by BS 30 and their Columbus mindset, this is definitely the team to beat. Hayes dropped 16 of her 22 in the second half to lead the team in scoring, Knight had a 17/10 double-double, Maul with a double-double of her own, 13/13 and Ly came off the bench to drop 15 which included going 3/4 from BTA.
They battle against defending 5A champion Frisco Liberty featuring [player_tooltip player_id="65915" first="Jazzy" last="Owens"]-Barnett who was last year’s MVP in the state championship and another middle school player I locked in at #D1. I’ll be watching the games closely, although I didn’t see United live, Princess Anderson scored at least 31 of her team’s points on the video, and rest assured, she will be added to PGH Texas 2022 Top 100 ranking
In the 3A Championship, Fairfield, like Frisco Liberty, is back to defend their title, last year they were the 4A champions, and sophomore sensation [player_tooltip player_id="158699" first="McKinna" last="Brackens"] will have her evaluation updated and the 27-2 squad will face 28-1 Brownfield, not familiar with any of their players yet I’m a fast learner. I will also catch yet another defending champion, 1A Nazareth who at 27-4 face off against undefeated 21-0 Dodd City
I’ll recap each game and I’ll drop a preview on Thursday’s games which will be, how can I put this, just as hot with double-digit PGH Texas Top 100 players
