As this very strange season heads into the final week of play, we have seen enough on the court to start handing out some awards.
Here are the five players who make up our first-team all-state squad.
[player_tooltip player_id="134607" first="Destiny" last="Adams"], Manchester: Without a doubt, Adams was the most dominant player in New Jersey this winter. She plays harder than everyone else, scores at will and grabs practically every missed shot on both ends of the floor. She willed Manchester to more victories than most people expected. The North Carolina commit scored more than 30 points and grabbed more than 20 rebounds six times.
[player_tooltip player_id="134621" first="Abigail" last="Antognoli"], St. Rose: Thrust into a starring role this winter, she easily exceeded expectations. She was a scoring machine, firing in a career-high 30 points against Manasquan. She went over 1,000 points in her career, and the Lafayette commit was still one of the state’s best playmakers, dropping 13 dimes against Rumson-Fair Haven.
[player_tooltip player_id="134644" first="Zoe" last="Brooks"], Trenton Catholic: For the second year in a row, she was the best closer in the state. She dominated the final quarter in a close win against Stuart Day. She posted 27 points and 10 rebounds against Hudson Catholic and went off for 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Paul VI. In TCA’s only defeat of the season, she still shook loose for 17 points and six rebounds. The sophomore has led the Iron Mikes in scoring in back-to-back seasons.
[player_tooltip player_id="134643" first="Aalyah" last="Del Rosario"], Trenton Catholic: The second-ranked player in the 2023 class according to ESPN was a double-double machine this winter. Although she is only a sophomore, she is the best post player in the state. She is a gifted passer, can handle the ball and her jumper is steadily improving. Scary to think what she will be in two years.
[player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"], St. John’s Vianney: The junior guard went over 1,000 points for her career. She was the best player on the best team in New Jersey … again. She scored 20 points – in a half – against the No. 2 team in New Jersey. She is a Princeton University commit.
