Class AAA Player of the Year and All-State Selections

Outstanding floor general, 2,000-point scorer, consummate leader, state champion. That about describes Becker senior [player_tooltip player_id="2122" first="Julia" last="Bengtson"]. Today she can add to the list, ‘Prep Girls Hoops Class AAA High School Player of the Year.” Julia also leads our selections today for Class AAA All-State Teams. Winning the State Tournament a couple of weeks back was the crowning achievement of a long and successful career as well as an incredible year for Julia and her teammates. She averaged 15.4 points per game on 48% shooting, along with 5.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3 steals. Numbers don’t really tell Julia’s story, though. It’s her leadership that truly stands out. She set the tone for everything Becker is about and Becker is all about team culture. This fall, she will begin the next segment of her journey at Division 1 Eastern Illinois. Joining Julia on the All-State First Team is her teammate [player_tooltip player_id="30163" first="Adeline" last="Kent"]. The junior has also had an excellent career, but this year she soared to new heights. [player_tooltip player_id="109746" first="Jordyn" last="Hilgemann"] of Marshall led her team to the state finals while being among the state’s leading scorers. [player_tooltip player_id="57914" first="Ronnie" last="Porter"] of St. Paul Como Park is one of the state’s most exciting and talented players who can score and score and score. And our final First Team selection is Benilde-St. Margaret’s guard [player_tooltip player_id="177728" first="Olivia" last="Olson"], one of the best freshmen in America and a candidate for Team USA. Congratulations to everyone who was chosen for the Prep Girls Hoops All-State Team. We did our very best to choose. I don’t recall the process ever being so difficult, which speaks volumes about the talent pool in Minnesota. I’m sure we must have missed some deserving players and I’ll apologize in advance if that’s the case.
