This weekend, some of Tennessee’s finest will be around the country showcasing their talent. Due to Covid, not all coaches will be in attendance, but you better believe they will be watching on their mobile devices. Tennessee girls, let’s get it.
This is such an exciting time for girls around the state, kids go far and wide just to impress a collegiate coach. Kudos to all the programs out there willing to do what it takes to help their student-athletes out. While this is just the start, be looking for this summer to be a great one as the country starts to open up.
As the season kickoff, look for some of these girls to make some noise throughout the circuit season this upcoming year.
Household Names
Acacia Hayes Acacia Hayes 5'7" | PG Riverdale | 2022 State TN (Jr./ 5’7/ PG/ Riverdale)– New club, new team. Acacia switches from Tennessee Flight to B. Wright. Look for her to make her mark on a talented ball club as they compete on the UA circuit. Acacia has such a dynamic game that she can make an impact on a situation in a heartbeat. She can shoot the ball at a high clip at all three levels. She can attack gaps and finish at the rim. Look for her to continue to receive power 5 offers.
Cori Allen Cori Allen 5'10" | SG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (So./5’10/ CG/ Hillsboro)- Big guard Cori will be looking to pick up more power 5 offers as she competes for the Tennessee Flight program this upcoming travel ball season. Cori is a tenacious player who dominates on both ends of the floor. She is a beast with the ball in her hands, as she can score in many different ways. From attacking gaps to knocking down 3s, this superstar is leaving her mark across the state.
Jaloni Cambridge Jaloni Cambridge 5'8" | PG Ensworth | 2024 State FL (Fr./5’6/PG/ Ensworth)– FBC has a star in one of Tennessee’s finest. She is a floor general who can score the rock at a high clip. Jaloni always seems to make the right play at the right time. She has a smooth release that she can unleash at a moment’s notice. One characteristic that gets overlooked is her ability to play lockdown defense. Sky’s the limit for this young lady and more offers will come this upcoming season.
Stock Risers
Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5'11" | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN (Fr./5’10/SF/ Knoxville Catholic)– FBC has another dynamic player from Tennessee in their program. Sydney is a beast with the ball in her hands. She has the ability to stroke it from deep, unleashes a nice mid-range game, and even takes it to the cup. She has a great quick first step that allowed her the ability to know down those 15ft shots. She contributes on the defensive end by controlling the boards as well as create turnover opportunities for her team. Look for her to build upon the momentum she created from her freshman year of high school.
NiKiah Chesterfield ( So. / 6’0/ C/ Oakland)- Suiting up for B. Wright this summer, NiKiah is ready to bust out and make a name for herself. She has great footwork offensively, which allows her to utilize her many post-up moves. She does have a good face-up game but really thrives in the pick and roll game. She controls the boards on both ends of the floor. Look for her to create a lot of buzz playing with a talented B. Wright team.
Hadleigh Wharton Hadleigh Wharton 5'10" | SF Baylor | 2023 State TN (So./5’10/SG/ Goodpasture)– This sharpshooter will be lighting up for Kentucky Premier this travel ball season. Her game definitely has some range. Hadleigh is a bucket and she surely will be dropping some long-range bombs this summer. Hadleigh is a leader both on and off the court. Look for her to help steer the ship as KY Premier takes on some tough opponents this year.
Tamia Scott Tamia Scott 6'0" | CG Clarksville | 2022 State TN (Jr./6’0/CG/ Clarksville Northwest)– The Tennessee Flight program has a gem on their hands with this young lady. The 6’0 combo guard can do it all for her ball club. From doing the dirty work down low to working from the perimeter, TaMia is a force to be reckoned with. She has a quiet game to where she racks up stats over the course of the game. From knocking down shots, controlling the boards, or dueling out assists, she is always close to posting up a double-double or a triple-double. Currently, mid-majors are rolling in, but look for some Power 5 schools to start taking notice of her this travel ball season.
Sleepers
Emiyah Cobb (So./5’10/CG/ Clarksville Northwest)– Silk smooth. Emiyah plays the game effortlessly. She is a dynamic player that floats around the court with ease. She is long and rangy, yet is equipped with many different skill sets. She has an all-around game to where she can play down low or work her opponent from the perimeter. Defensively, she is a lockdown defender who deflects a lot of passes. Look for Emiyah to make a name for herself beyond the Clarksville area this summer.
Kyra Perkins (So./5’10/SF/ Warren Co.)– EAB got a steal with this young lady. She is long, athletic, and can jump out of the gym. Kyra is phenomenal defensively as she likes to blow shots. She controls the boards well on both ends of the floor. She possesses an outside-in game to where she hand impeccable handles that allow her the ability to attack gaps to get downhill. She has a quick first step that allows her to unleash her mid-range game. Look for her to have a coming-out party this summer for EAB.
Emily Monson Emily Monson 6'0" | SF Blackman | 2023 State TN (So./6’0/CG/ Blackman)– This gym rat does the little things right. She is scrappy, tenacious, and just a flat-out fierce competitor. Emily has a nice mid-range game that compliments her ability to shoot from downtown. Though people harp on her offensively, it is her defensive ability that equates to extra possessions for her ball club. She can guard in the paint or on the perimeter, either way, that opponent will have a tough night out. Emily will be suiting up for a talented Tennessee Flight squad. She has received some offers, look for her to garnish even more attention as her style of play will give any teams a run for their money.
