PGH Easter Classic: 17U Day Two Recap

The PGH Easter Classic in Romeoville, IL is in the books and the event was loaded with talented players across the board. Here are some players that deserve recognition from the second day of games: <strong>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="148142" first="Aspen" last="Weeks"], 5’8” Guard, Example Sports</strong> A dynamic Point Guard with high-level playmaking ability, Weeks is quick and shifty with the ball in her hands, allowing her to get in the lane with ease. Aspen shoots the ball well from deep and uses her terrific court vision to find teammates for easy buckets. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="124881" first="Cheri" last="Michalek"], 5’6” Guard, Illinois Rockets</strong> Michalek is a dependable Floor General who does a great job leading the offense and maintaining the composure for her team. She is an obvious leader by example in the consistent effort she gives on the defensive end of the floor. Cheri can score the ball at all levels and plays outstanding team-basketball when she is on the court. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="160163" first="Abby" last="Shepard"], 5’8” Guard, Example Sports</strong> Shepard is a talented Combo Guard who is a natural scorer at every level with a good-looking jumper and playmaking abilities in the lane. Abby has smooth ball-handling skills and uses her length to shoot floaters over defenders and finds other creative ways to convert at the basket. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="78785" first="Simone" last="Sawyer"], 5’11” Guard, Illinois Elite</strong> A high-level player who can play any of the Guard positions, Sawyer is a terrific scorer from the Wing. Simone regularly knocks down jumpers from beyond the three-point line and uses a quick first step to get in the lane where she finishes strong through contact. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="124867" first="Elise" last="Heneghan"], 6’0” Forward, Example Sports</strong> Heneghan is a smooth Forward who stretches the floor with her ball-handling skills and ability to knock down jumpers from deep. Elise is a high-motor player with a great variety of post moves and willingness to rebound on both ends of the court. <strong>2023 Liliana Montalvo, 5’6” Guard, Example Sports</strong> Montalvo is a skilled Point Guard who handles the ball with good quickness and control while pushing the ball up the floor. Liliana is a terrific shooter from deep and plays tough defense on opposing ball-handlers. <strong>2022 Maggie Grady, 5’8” Guard, Illinois Rockets</strong> Grady is an extremely well-rounded Combo Guard who gives consistent effort on both ends of the court. Maggie is a reliable ball-handler who can knock down shots from the perimeter and attacks the lane with a purpose to finish strong at the hoop. <strong>2022 Nakiyah Mays-Prince, 5’4” Guard, Example Sports</strong> Mays-Prince is an electric Point Guard who brings a ton of energy and passion on both ends of the floor. Nakiyah is a shifty ball-handler who is nearly impossible to stay in front of and plays tough on defense against opposing ball-handlers.
