Players to Watch this Spring: 2022 A look at who could really raise their stock this offseason. 2022 5-10 G [player_tooltip player_id="186270" first="Jillian" last="Bretz"] – Forsyth Central – North GA Magic D-II and D-III schools are starting to line up for [player_tooltip player_id="186270" first="Jillian" last="Bretz"]. The big guard is a smooth three-level scorer that has an accurate jump shot. Once she starts hitting from the perimeter, driving lanes open up for her to skillfully get to the basket. Bretz can play either on or off the ball and helps out on the glass. Continuing to prove her value as an on-ball defender could elevate her stock even higher. 2022 5-9 F [player_tooltip player_id="148859" first="Aliyah" last="Washington"] – North Paulding – Atlanta Celtics People are finally realizing that [player_tooltip player_id="148859" first="Aliyah" last="Washington"] is a special player. Her toughness, strength, motor and nose for the ball are uncanny. Once a bull in a china shop, Washington has polished up her game to where she can shoot the three and hit the pull-up off the dribble. Washington is getting better and better. While she may not have a tradition position, Washington can play either forward spot and will produce every time she takes the floor. Colleges will want to jump in quick before she completely takes off. 2022 5-7 SG [player_tooltip player_id="269489" first="Brooklyn" last="Begley"] – Greenbrier – Team Elite-Peake Colleges are always in search of floor spacers. [player_tooltip player_id="269489" first="Brooklyn" last="Begley"] can do just that. She’s got deep range on her three-point shot and has some craftiness when attacking off the dribble, able to finish with either hand. Begley is a sneaky good prospect for non-D-I’s that should garner some attention in due time. 2022 5-5 PG [player_tooltip player_id="148901" first="Kehinde" last="Obasuyi"] – Carrollton [player_tooltip player_id="148901" first="Kehinde" last="Obasuyi"] has battled through adversity her entire career. After tearing an ACL in the preseason of her sophomore season, Obasuyi played a key role in Carrollton’s run to the Class 6A state championship this year. Unfortunately, she injured her shoulder in the third quarter and saw Westlake race away for another state title. When healthy, Obasuyi is an electric guard. She’s lightning fast with the ball and turns corners in the blink of an eye where she pulls up on a dime to float in her signature lefty stroke. Kehinde handles the ball extremely well and is a talented playmaker with above average vision. D-I and D-II programs have already offered. She’s one of the sharpest guards in Georgia. 2022 5-9 CG [player_tooltip player_id="195843" first="Sydney" last="Bolden"] – Loganville Canisius offered Bolden back in March. Sydney is a long guard that is starting to put everything together. She plays with a very good motor and provides energy on both ends of the floor. She jumps passing lanes and can get blocks and deflections. Bolden made strides as a primary ball handler this season as she initiated the offense and could get downhill and distribute. 2022 6-3 C [player_tooltip player_id="195604" first="Detavia" last="Salter"] – Bainbridge One of the best sleepers in South Georgia, [player_tooltip player_id="195604" first="Detavia" last="Salter"] is a game-changer in the paint. The physical post put up 12.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3.3 steals and 4.3 blocks per game. Salter has nimble feet and has shown she can attack off the dribble and finish with spins and drop steps inside. Her footwork is impressive and her ability to score through contact should translate to the next level. Over the course of her career, Salter has improved her three-point shot. D-II and even D-I programs will want to check in.
