Fresh off a state. Championship with Lake Highland Prep, 6’2 Forward [player_tooltip player_id="91555" first="Nyla" last="Harris"] is headed to Louisville. Super athlete and scoring machine [player_tooltip player_id="91558" first="Kailyn" last="Gilbert"] is verbally committed to national champion runner-up Arizona. UCF has a pair of commitments in 6’0 Wing [player_tooltip player_id="91579" first="Savannah" last="Henderson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91585" first="Stefanie" last="Ingram"]. While [player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"] is the most recent commitment, committing to University of Texas just two weeks ago while [player_tooltip player_id="91562" first="Addison" last="Potts"] has been verbally committed to Missouri for several years. So with six of the top twelve players in the class of 2022 rankings committed, let’s take a look at the top uncommitted players.
[player_tooltip player_id="91554" first="Janiah" last="Barker"] just recently made the announcement she is transferring from Montverde Academy from Tampa Bay Tech for her Senior year. The 6’1 is one of the most versatile players in the country and can play multiple positions. Her unique combination of skill, athleticism, and length make her one of the countries most coveted players.
[player_tooltip player_id="91556" first="Tonie" last="Morgan"] released a top 8 several months ago announcing finalists for her college decision (NC State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, FSU, and Kentucky). There has been very little information about any updates on the recruiting front since the release of her top 8 but the list is some of the top schools in the country from the ACC, SEC, and Pac-12. Morgan is one of the most skilled and high IQ guards in the country and has potential to walk in and be the day 1 starting point guard for whichever school is the winner of her services.

[player_tooltip player_id="91557" first="Sydney" last="Shaw"] has been a staple on the EYBL circuit since 8th grade and has won multiple state championships with both Miami Country Day and American Heritage. The 5’7 scoring guard is one of the country’s most elite scorers who can get it done off the dribble, at the rim, deep from 3 and has a solid mid-range game. With the game on the line, any coach would feel comfortable with the ball in Shaw’s hands taking the last shot. Her recruitment has been relatively quiet as of late but with the travel season picking up and Shaw averaging 20+ points per game for Miami Suns Team Fowles, she will be a coveted prospect in the class of 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="91577" first="Amiya" last="Evans"] had a big spring/summer in 2020 after making the transition from Essence to the Miami Suns. Her body is college ready and is she spring into the national rankings because of her 6’2 frame with her ability to play inside and out. She has a strong build with broad shoulders and a solid lower base. She is very good five feet and in around the rim and is very hard to move off the low block when she establishes low post position as well as getting her off the boards when she is in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="219953" first="Fernanda" last="Ovalle"] had a solid season for Montverde Academy helping them to a national ranking. Ovalle is a big wing who is a skilled offensive player with a high basketball IQ and solid court awareness. She is an unselfish player (sometimes too unselfish) who is always willing to make the extra pass and create ball and player movement. She has great height for a perimeter player and shoots at a very high percentage with an efficient floor game.

[player_tooltip player_id="91560" first="Paris" last="Gaines"] has been off the radar for a little bit after having impressive performances her Freshman and Sophomore years with Hoop Dreams Elite and West Orange HS. The 6’2 post is the classes top back to the basket post who can score finishing with both the left and right hands and has multiple post moves. In this age, back to the basket post players are a dying breed and Gaines is a unique prospect who can not only score back to her basket but consistently posts up and establishes position on the low block. She does have the ability to play face up and knock down the 15 footer from the high post and put to the floor but she is most effective down low.

[player_tooltip player_id="91561" first="Michiyah" last="Simmons"] had a stellar Junior year campaign for Blanche Ely helping them to a national ranking. She is a high flying, super athletic combo guard that can play both the one and the two. She plays hard on every possession and with a ton of energy on both ends of the floor. Her combination of activity level and athleticism, matched her scoring ability makes her one of the classes top guards and will make a college coach very happy as she is a playmaker who is tough to take off the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="91563" first="Mya" last="Kone"] has battled the injury bug the last couple years but when healthy the 6’2 wing/forward is a perfect fit for a college program playing a “positionless” system. She is extremely athletic and long and a nightmare matchup because of her height, wingspan and skill set. She has a ton of potential and the highest ceiling of anyone in the class of 2022 and her best basketball is ahead of her should she stay healthy.

[player_tooltip player_id="219993" first="Silkiari" last="Vazquez"] had a great year for Central Pointe Academy leading them to a 31-2 record, a Sunshine Independent League championship and a national ranking. The 5’5 point guard is originally from Puerto Rico and was a big part of the international flair for Central Pointe. Vazquez is a floor general who has a high basketball IQ, excellent passing skills and an efficient scorer who plays as a pass first point guard but selectively picks her spots to score. She is a capable 3-point shooter but her biggest strength is playing out of ball screens and in open floor in transition getting to the rim or putting her mid-range game on display!
[player_tooltip player_id="219954" first="Fatima" last="Diakhate"] is always the biggest player on the court. At 6’6 there are very few players who can see eye to eye with Diakhate. She has international experience with the Canadian national team and impacts the game as a shot blocker and rebounder just by her shear presence in the paint. Typically players of size develop late as they grow into their bodies, become more coordinated and develop a low post game. Diakhate has made huge strides in her offensive development since I first saw her in 7th grade. She is an intriguing prospect and it will be interesting to see where she lands from a college recruitment perspective as a big part of how successful she will be will how the college handles her player development and their strength and conditioning program.
[player_tooltip player_id="91566" first="Joey" last="Delancy"] can play 1-4 and has a strong build and is a skilled offensive player. The biggest question mark for her as a college prospect is what position you recruit her at. Ultimately, I think she will be a combo guard who mainly plays the shooting guard position but can handle some point guard responsibilities in spot minutes. Her build is one of her biggest strengths as she uses her body well when attacking the rim and can take contact. She is a consistent outside threat who has nice shooting form and shoots a high percentage from 3.

[player_tooltip player_id="154908" first="Enjulina" last="Gonzalez"] is a long, athletic wing player who was a big part of Miami Christian’s state championship this year. The 5’9 perimeter player does most of her damage off the dribble and is an excellent rebounder for a guard. She has a long wing span and can impact the game on both the offensive and defensive end and often gets her hands on a lot of balls based on her activity level.

[player_tooltip player_id="91575" first="Maddie" last="Millar"] was part of the 3-headed monster for Bishop Kenny this year along with [player_tooltip player_id="91482" first="Jasmyne" last="Roberts"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91547" first="Jamia" last="Nesmith"]. The scoring point guard does most of her damage from 3, shooting just over 8 3-pointers per game for Bishop Kenny averaging 11.9 points per game. At 5’10, she has the ability to see over defenses from the point guard position as well as get her shot off vs smaller defenders very easy.
