It was great to get back into the gym and watch some good girls basketball game and I ran into a good one this day. I walked into the MAP Sports Facility in Garden Grove on Saturday and caught a 17U game with West Coast Elite UAA Girls 17s vs. The Wood (Lynwood HS girls) playing one another on the #1 floor. I setup my portable chair and watched this game from start to finish and then proceeded to talk with a few of the girls after the game was over. I got some headshots of a few of them and you know the drill, I evaluated a few of them, let me know what you think about these evaluations.
2021, 5’6, PG, Lynwood HS, Briliyah Taylor - Briliyah is a true point guard in every since of the word and she proves it every time she is on the floor. I do not know what her recruiting looks like, but someone should be taking her this year, because she can play. She teamed up with [player_tooltip player_id="49225" first="Rayah" last="Marshall"] on the pick and roll and it was hard to stop, she would use the screen and feed Rayah over the top for the finish. Briliyah can defend as well and showed us her skillset for defense in this game, holding down the opposing point several times in this game.
2021, 5’4, CG, Lynwood HS, [player_tooltip player_id="102692" first="Jada" last="Turner"] - Jada is a speedster and the local Lynwood lockdown specialist on the defensive end of the floor. She is quick, she is crafty with the ball and makes the right plays for her team. At the guard spots for Lynwood they are pretty good, shown by how they communicate and trap the ball on each and every possession. She is developing a nice offensive skill set, but this girl is a stopper.
2021, 6’3, PF, Lynwood HS, [player_tooltip player_id="49225" first="Rayah" last="Marshall"] - [player_tooltip player_id="49225" first="Rayah" last="Marshall"], what can I say, she is the all-around player that is hard to stop on the perimeter and in the paint. She can catch and seal, she swings thru and gets to the rim for a bucket and she is hard to stop on the floor period with the ball in her hands. Her floater game was fun to watch over the front of the rim off the drive, but one thing she improved on was the pull up three point shot. We enjoyed watching her play, she will be special at USC when she arrives.
