A solid amount of Washington’s college prospects come from the small schools or lower level class schools. These schools are subject to a lot less coverage and all around attention on a state-wide or national scale unless your name is [player_tooltip player_id="20149" first="Hailey" last="Van Lith"]. Some other recent small school standouts from past classes include Liberty High School grad [player_tooltip player_id="85871" first="Maisie" last="Burnham"] who dominated the small school scene and recently transferred to Portland from EWU. Other recent small school standouts include 2019 grads [player_tooltip player_id="35341" first="Emily" last="Rodabaugh"] from Archbishop Murphy High School who had a strong year at Northern Arizona University and [player_tooltip player_id="35342" first="Isabela" last="Hernandez"] from Lynden Christian who plays at SDSU. The 2022 class version is still taking shape, but below are some of the better college prospects from smaller high schools around the state.
One of the first and obvious names that comes to mind is WF West High School’s [player_tooltip player_id="27922" first="Drea" last="Brumfield"]. Already committed to Pepperdine University, Brumfield has made a name for herself at the 2A level and put on some really impressive performances over the years.
[player_tooltip player_id="154199" first="Kyra" last="Gardner"] is one of the least "publicized" prospects in the state, but her recruitment says otherwise with a handful of Division 1 offers already. Even I had personally never heard of Raymond High School before learning of Gardner’s game, but she is putting her small school on the map.
5’8 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="79190" first="Dylan" last="Phillip"] helped Ellensburg High School to a 2A state tourney run last year with her non-stop motor and great speed on the floor. Phillip has also received recruitment from the Division 1 level.
Another guard in the 2022 class that’s a standout is [player_tooltip player_id="27951" first="Jazmyn" last="Stone"] from Annie Wright School. Stone has a good motor, smooth handle and nice all around skill set on the offensive end.
[player_tooltip player_id="27944" first="Mckenna" last="Reggear"] from Colville High School is a strong wing player at 5’10 that has a big time motor. She is also a knockdown three point shooter. Another prospect that has some Division 1 and Division 2 college interest.
