Calling all readers! The rankings are out! 131 girls in the class of 2022 have been ranked. These young ladies displayed grit and determination while competing on the hardwood throughout the 2020/2021 high school campaign. There are tons of stellar ballers out there, but at the same time, these student-athletes carved out a niche and received many accolades along the way. Some did miss out on a season due to COVID-19, but that didn’t stop them from getting our attention. A tip of the cap to those who showed why the state of Tennessee is the place to be when it comes to women’s basketball. Though some spots didn’t change, others shot up the rankings as their stock rose due to their exceptional play. These young ladies put in the hard work and were committed to their craft through such a tough school year. With so many rules and stipulations, these young ladies overcame so much just to wear their school’s name across their chest. While everyone should be recognized, these young ladies stood out amongst a very talented class of kids. Look for these young women to continue on an upward trend throughout the summer and into the 2021-2022 high school season. [player_tooltip player_id="245207" first="Karly" last="Weathers"] (5’10, SF, Loretto)- The Alabama commit continues to put in the work to try to reach that top spot. She is a kid that can do it all for her ball club. From shooting long-range to attacking the rim, Karly has an impressive arsenal of different attack moves when heading to the basket. Defensively, she is a nuisance as she can create turnovers that lead the other way, as well as help control the boards. This was a great pick-up for the Crimson Tide. [player_tooltip player_id="245214" first="Tamia" last="Scott"] (5’10, SF, Clarksville)- This is one of the hottest names out there right now. This 5’10 long and rangy SF is an all-around player. She can handle the ball efficiently, attack the gaps to get downhill, has a nice mid-range game, and can display a plethora of back-to-the-basket moves. Tamia is a beast on the defensive end. She can match up well against guards and creates a problem for post players. She is a defensive enforcer that can send shots back as well. She has picked up some offers early this travel ball season. Look for her to receive power 5 looks as she becomes a cornerstone in this very deep and talented class. [player_tooltip player_id="245216" first="Avery" last="Strickland"] (5’9, SG, Farragut)- “Ace” is a West Virginia commit who is starting to rise up the charts. She is a sharpshooter who is a bucket filler and shoots the ball effectively from all 3 levels of the court. She is a gym rat who is driven to excel both on and off the court. Avery is a tremendous talent that can change the game in an instant. Look for her to continue to get better throughout the course of the summer leading into her senior year. She was a steal for the Lady Mountaineers to get. [player_tooltip player_id="245224" first="Zyion" last="Shannon"] (5’7, CG, Stewart’s Creek)- Smooth is one word that sums up how [player_tooltip player_id="245224" first="Zyion" last="Shannon"] plays the game of basketball. She has a quiet demeanor, but her game packs a big punch. With the ball in her hands, Zyion can handle the rock to get to the rim, deliver passes in tight windows, and shoot the ball from all three levels effectively. She is a hustler on defense, where she creates turnovers that lead to transition buckets. She has a high basketball IQ that compliments her speed and quickness to get to the rim. As she steps into a leadership role her senior year, look for her to bring in some D1 offers entering the 2021-2022 high school campaign. [player_tooltip player_id="245215" first="Serena" last="Lee"] (6’0, SG, Whitehaven)- This bouncy, athletic guard is a natural scorer. She is deadly with the ball in her hands. From attacking the rim to shooting from beyond the arc, Serena’s stock is shooting up the charts. She knows how to use her body well, maximizing her efforts that lead to positive outcomes for her club. She steps out of the shadow of her former teammate Sequoia Allmond, to take a bigger role with her HS team. Look for Serena to entertain some power 5 offers entering her senior year of HS. She is a dynamic player that is a threat on both ends of the court. Skies are the limit for this up-and-coming stud. [player_tooltip player_id="245221" first="Brooklyn" last="Crouch"] (5’8, PG, Upperman)- She is super tough. This floor general is just an all-around player for her ball club. Brooklyn is such a heady player that it is truly amazing all the things she can do. From shooting the deep ball effectively, slashing through gaps to finish at the rim, or deliver Pistol Pete-like passes, Brooklyn is a threat offensively. Defensively, she is going to lock you up and make it a long day for her opponent. She plays through tough times with a smile on her face. She may take a beating, but she keeps coming back for more. Brooklyn has committed to Tennessee Tech. She is truly a game-changer and will be a great foundational block for the Lady Golden Eagles. [player_tooltip player_id="276708" first="Briah" last="Hampton"] (6’1, SF, Memphis East)- Long, rangy, tough, athletic. So many adjectives can describe this young hooper’s game. Not having a season last year hurt, but it didn’t stop her from working on her craft. It just made her hungrier. Briah knows how to use her size to her advantage. She can defend multiple positions, runs the floor well, and can finish at the rim. She shoots the rock effectively, displaying a knack for the mid-range area. She has playmaking ability and the instincts that will garnish a lot of attention this summer. Defensively, she is a shot blocker and a beast on the boards. As her stock rises, look for her to be one of the next hottest things to come out of the Memphis area. [player_tooltip player_id="283401" first="Aiyanna" last="Levy"] (5’6, CG, Upperman)- This talented hooper has the ability to create space. She has great footwork and a great feel for the game. She may be small in stature, but Aiyanna is as tough as they come. She has the ability to get to the rim, unleashes a nice mid-range stroke, and effectively from beyond the arc. She’s an unselfish player who knows how to get the ball to her teammates, especially when they are hot or in the zone. She is a student of the game and thinks like a vet in so many ways. Though she is a threat offensively, she really thrives on the defensive end. Aiyanna has the ability to defend multiple positions. She has quick hands and feet that enable her to create turnovers that lead to opportunities on the offensive end. Look for her to raise some eyebrows as she enters her senior campaign.
