It was a good showcase of talented players in the Class of 2025 with some 2026 and 2027 players in the mix as well. Here are a few players that caught my eye on Saturday’s first day of action.
Dekeira Clay 5’8″ B2B Kansas Bluejays 2025: Talented guard who plays at a relentless pace at both ends of the court. She attacks the basket at every opportunity and will either finish in traffic or get herself to the free throw line. She is just as intense on the defense end as she applies great ball pressure while also playing the passing lanes well. She never takes a play off.
Anonda Ford Anonda Ford 5'9" | SF University Academy | 2025 State MO 5’8″ Della Lamb Red 2025: A 2025 guard who also plays the game at Full-Tilt Boogie at both ends of the floor. She is an excellent slashing threat in the halfcourt offense or when she goes coast to coast after grabbing a rebound and getting a steal.
Riley Grohman 5’8″ Texas Platinum Basketball: A 2025 point guard who does everything from her team from scoring to setting up teammates for buckets and playing excellent defense. She was the best passer that I watched during the day as her court vision enable her to find open teammates before they knew they were open.
Asia Lee Asia Lee 5'9" | CG Olathe North | 2026 State KS 5’7″ KC Lady Run GMC 2025 Blue: A smooth 2026 point guard who can facilitate the offense and get buckets with equal effectiveness. She shoots a nice ball with excellent form and rotation and a lot of confidence. She can break defenders down off the dribble while playing stellar defense at the other end.
Jayla McClinton Jayla McClinton 6'2" | PF Raytown South | 2026 State MO 5’11” The Family Basketball Academy 2025: A 2026 combo forward who causes matchup problems with her combination of strength and finesse around the basket. She has quick moves around the basket and she gives great effort on the boards as she will rebound out of her area.
Lariah Tucker Lariah Tucker 5'8" | SG Grandview | 2026 State MO 5’8″ KC Lady Run GMC Red: A very smooth 2026 shooting guard with athleticism and a variety of ways to score. She has length and quickness and can break down defenders with her handles and quick first step. She also hit the 3-pointer to keep defenders off balance. She averaged 18 points in her two games without really trying to force the issue. She let the game come to her.
Tatyonna Brown 6’0″ P.L.U.T.O. Prospects Basketball 2025: A long and athletic post player who was a factor inside with her length and activity. She is a very good rebounder and shot blocker who can also finish inside on the offensive end. When she felt really comfortable, she would step out and knock down a 15-footer and put the ball on the floor to make a play.
