Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top Class of 2022 point guards from last weekend’s USJN Gateway Challenge at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
[player_tooltip player_id="162388" first="Saniah" last="Tyler"] 5’7" Lady BBE 2022: Elite floor general from Incarnate Word displayed her passing skills throughout the weekend as she delivered some tremendous dimes through traffic. Her on-ball defense was on point and she knows how to get buckets when her team needs them, whether it’s on dribble penetration or from 3-point range. She picked up an offer from SEC power Tennessee this week.
[player_tooltip player_id="107975" first="Brooke" last="Highmark"] 5’8" BlueStar St. Louis 17U (Silvey): A scoring point guard from Westminster who was getting buckets at all three levels. She can get downhill on the drive aggressively or she can pull up and hit the defender with an escape move for the jumper. Her 3-point range makes her even more difficult to defend. She’s just as comfortable playing off the ball as she is with the ball in her hands. She has already committed to Belmont.
[player_tooltip player_id="201551" first="Zaire" last="Harrell"] 5’9" St. Louis Phenom (Kelly): An athletic point guard from MICDS who excels at both ends of the floor. She is tough to keep out of the lane when she wants to go downhill because she can use her physcial strength as well as her speed. She has also developed a nice pull-up jumper to compliment her drives. Z is also a very active and engaged defender who loves to take the challenge.
[player_tooltip player_id="107969" first="Carli" last="Libhart"] 5’6" Midwest United 3SSB: A very solid point guard from Rolla who knows to run the show. She handles the ball well and is always surveying the court and keeping things organized. She gets into the lane well and can drop off to teammates for easy layups or kick out for open 3-pointers. She plays with a lot of poise and savvy.
[player_tooltip player_id="143415" first="Jaidynn" last="Mason"] 5’6 Della Lamb 3SSB: An impressive point guard from Blue Springs South with good quickness and feel for the game. She has an excellent shooting stroke from 3-point range with a quick release. She also has the handles to create her own shot off the dribble.
Mariah Maxie 5’4" Midwest United: A quick point guard from Cardinal Ritter who knows how to make things happen with her speed and quickness. She utilizes her speed well on the defensive end to be disruptive and she did a nice job of setting up her teammates with her passing skills. She was good with the dribble penetration and can hit an open 3-pointer.
Reilly Brophy 5’6" BlueStar St. Louis 17U (Silvey): A solid southpaw guard from Westminster who handles the ball well and makes good decisions. I also like how she was able to feed the post to her taller teammates inside in positions to score. When left open, she is a very reliable 3-point shooter, which has always been one of her strengths.
