The talent from the class of 2022 was on full display at the Insider Exposure Apache Memorial Showcase last weekend. Here are some of the guards that had some stock rising performances.

[player_tooltip player_id="219881" first="Kate" last="Jones"] | Greensboro Lady Gaters

Jones does a great job separating herself from her opponents to put up her shot as her shooting ability is usually what she is known for. Last weekend, though, she showed that she could play anywhere on the court. She seeks out a body to box out on defense, and she uses her height to fight for rebounds. She uses offensive rebounds for second chance opportunities where she makes one move and scores. She finds the exact spots to cut to in order to grab the ball for some points, and she can score three points the old fashioned way battling through contact. She showed off a nice reverse lay up in transition showing her awareness when she is on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="261170" first="Hailey" last="Blackwell"] | Lady Phoenix Rocky

Blackwell (pictured above) is an excellent ball handler making moves to get by her opponents and find her open teammates. She does so at high speeds in transition and in set offenses. She can drive the ball herself getting to the basket, and she does not shy away from contact. She drives the ball drawing her opponents to her, so she can dish it to her teammate. When her opponents were trying to make a comeback, she drained multiple three pointers deflating their spirits. She knows how to jump into passing lanes anticipating what her opponents are going to try to do.

[player_tooltip player_id="219879" first="Victoria" last="Boddie"] | Greensboro Lady Gaters-Select

Boddie can certainly shoot the ball well from behind the arc. She wreaks havoc on defense making sure guards have to work hard to try to get by her. She does a nice job selling her fakes to get off a pass or to show off her shot. She made sure to show off her shot just when her team needed it late in the game to tie it up. She then tied the game up again with a nice floater in the middle of the paint.

Sydney Roberts | FBC Carolina Elite Hall

Roberts shoots well from behind the arc, and she made sure people knew that on multiple occasions. She scores three points the old fashioned way, especially when her steals seem to get inside her opponents’ heads as she scoops it in for a score on the other end. She goes after loose balls for her team, too. She made her way to the basket with ease timing her moves perfectly.
