The 2023 class rankings dropped earlier this week and it has some very talented student-athletes amongst it. This class is one of the most highly touted classes in the state of Tennessee. With dime droppers to dynamic finishers, the 2023 class is packed with game-changers from top to bottom. Some of these young ladies are silent assassins when it comes to having the ball in their hands. This year, PGH Tennessee ranked the top 100 for the sophomore class. Don’t get me wrong, there were some talented girls that were left off the list. These 100, tipped the scale for sure with playmaking ability. All 100 bring something unique to the table. All of them play an integral role in what their team does and accomplishes. The crazy thing about it, they did all this with only playing two years of high school basketball experience. Imagine what their senior year will be like. Though some girls may not be ranked as high, here are some sleepers in the class who will be moving up the ranks when it’s all said and done. [player_tooltip player_id="421980" first="Atiya" last="Moss"] (5’8/ PG/ Clarksville Academy)- This year was a coming-out party for this future young stud. Atiya possesses a playmaking ability that allows her to get into the lane. Her athleticism and defensive ability, creates havoc for opponents, leading to easy transition buckets. Atiya has a nice shot on her, where she can unleash it at a high clip at multiple levels. Quiet in nature, this talented athlete turns into a beast when the ball tips off. [player_tooltip player_id="285338" first="Chloe" last="Gannon"] (6’0/ C/ Coffee County)- Shot blocker, rim protector, this long lanky kid from Coffee County is a threat down low. She runs the floor well, has a good IQ/Feel for the game, and is lethal working from block to block. She plays the game with grit and it’s evident especially when controlling the boards on both ends. She possesses great size and with more experience, she will be a threat for years to come. [player_tooltip player_id="245298" first="Sloan" last="Carpenter"] (5’3/ PG/ Bradley Central)- She may not be the biggest in stature, but she plays the game of basketball with a fire in her belly. Sloan has a quick first step that allows her to get to the rim. She shoots the ball well from all 3 levels. She has a playmaking ability that frees up opportunities for her teammates. This young baller plays the game with a level of speed and quickness that has helped propel her team. Coaches, if you are looking for a sparkplug, this young lady is it. [player_tooltip player_id="245326" first="Makenzie" last="Bremer"] (5’9/ SF/ Alcoa)- An offensive threat from anywhere on the floor. Mak can shoot the ball at a high clip, hit the mid-range jumper, and get to the rim. She can handle the ball and distribute with the best of them. She has an arsenal of moves to where she can attack face up or use back-to-the-basket moves to finish around the painted area. She has nice footwork around the block. This kid plays the game with passion and poise. [player_tooltip player_id="285353" first="Myah" last="Sutton"] (5’5 / PG/ Oakland)- A floor general with a ball of energy. Myah plays the game with a motor and intensity about her. She can throw nice dimes to teammates to catch in motion, score the basketball when needed, and can pick up defensively the length of the court. She is very dynamic in the pick n roll game. She anticipates well and her court vision leads to offensive opportunities for her Oakland ball club. [player_tooltip player_id="285387" first="Emaleigh" last="Tarpley"] (5’10/ PF/ Rockvale)- A young bruiser coming into her own. She can play from the stretch position and knock down 3s, or bang inside using a plethora of moves. She is a gym rat who works tirelessly on her game. Tarpley is a firecracker who plays the game with heart and passion. She is versatile and has a high IQ for the game. [player_tooltip player_id="285451" first="Bella" last="Bugg"] (5’7/ SG/ BGA)- Athletic guard who can shoot the ball at a high clip. If her feet are set, it’s money. Bella can shoot the ball well from many spots on the floor. She has a quick first step and runs the floor well to fill lanes that lead to transition buckets. She is a competitor that can defend multiple positions. She has a great feel and IQ for the game. [player_tooltip player_id="245333" first="Caitlyn" last="Berry"] (5’6/ SG/ Dyer Co.)- Tough. This young lady can shoot the ball at a high clip at multiple levels of the floor. She has the ability to read screens and know when to attack or knock down a 3 ball. She has the ability to get into the lane to finish or hit open teammates for easy buckets. Caitlyn has great court vision that allows her to be a threat even when the ball isn’t in her hands. When she is on the floor, this kid is always making plays on either end of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="285370" first="Madi" last="Lewis"] (5’7/ CG/ Columbia Academy)- Slowly coming into her own, she plays the game with a competitive edge. She is tough, possesses speed, and is a floor general for her club. Madi can attack gaps leading to mid-range pull-ups or floaters. She throws threaded passes that lead to buckets for her team. She plays defense with intensity, locking down opponents the length of the floor. Look for her to be on some coaches’ radars when it’s all said and done. [player_tooltip player_id="285367" first="Anna" last="Claire Milam"] (5’9/ SG/ Dickson Co.)- This year was her coming-out party for the Lady Cougars. AC is a knockdown who is lethal from beyond the arc. Blessed with great size and court vision, I put my money on this girl in a 3pt contest. AC can put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. She can guard multiple positions and contribute by controlling the boards. She’s a tough competitor that shines bright when the lights come on.
