High school basketball is quietly still being played by many high schools around the state. There have been some real standout performances by future college players and rising college prospects. Readers can review some of the top performers from around the state in the first half of the week.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Future Fresno State Bulldog Passes 1,000 Points Scored</strong></span></h3>
2021 5’11 G/F [player_tooltip player_id="20229" first="Tamia" last="Stricklin"] of Seattle Prep recently eclipsed the 1,000 point scoring mark in a blowout win over Franklin. The smooth lefty plays an unselfish brand of basketball, but she has steadily been a double digit scorer for one of the top 3A programs in the state dating back to her freshman year. The future Fresno State Bulldog finished with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists in the game she passed 1,000 points. A great accomplishment for one of the state’s top players.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Pepperdine Commit Has Career Night</strong></span></h3>
2022 6’3 SF [player_tooltip player_id="27922" first="Drea" last="Brumfield"] had a monstrous night for WF West High School. The state’s top ranked junior finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, 10 blocks, 5 steals and 4 assists in the win over Centralia. This performance was good for the fifth triple double in program history. Brumfield is already committed to Pepperdine and she will bring her long frame and versatile attack on both sides of the ball to Malibu.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Freshman Makes It Rain!!!</strong></span></h3>
Camas High School has restocked themselves with talent as their 2021 class prepares to graduate soon and we have gotten a glimpse of the future already. 2024 5’8 SG [player_tooltip player_id="286854" first="Ava" last="Smith"] recently caught fire, scoring the nets for 26 points. This performance came on 8/10 shooting from the three point line. This freshman has a great basketball IQ and seems to always get to the right spots on the floor to get her shot off.
<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Bea Has HUGE Double Double</strong></span></h3>
2022 5’10 SF [player_tooltip player_id="157812" first="Skylar" last="Bea"] put up one of the more impressive double doubles you will hear about. In a 71-33 win over Mark Morris High School, Bea put up 17 points to go along with an even more impressive 17 rebounds. Her motor and work ethic continues to stand out. She is also a solid athlete with some versatility in her skill set.
