I had a chance to check out Saturday’s action at Prime Time’s Best Of Texas, the venue was in the vicinity of one of my classmates viewing service so I needed something to give me a lift and after seeing the teams that were playing, I figured I’d catch some excitement as well as new faces, I left pleased and here’s why [player_tooltip player_id="265538" first="Aliyah" last="Craft"]-5’6 G (Lady Thunder-King) Craft is crafty, I’ve probably used that before but she just keeps getting it done and when you can score in droves, quickly, that’s pretty impressive because she has SWB, speed with ball, she’s under control and she can drop the stop and pop in transition or attack and finish defying gravity, this includes after contact and that also speaks volumes about her body control but she also sees the floor and can drop the long-range Aaliyah Macias-5’6 G (Shooting Starz) Macias has always been heady, always under control, and always understood how to get hers in the flow yet she has become more offensive-oriented and it’s a big plus for her because it adds to her versatility as well as another intangible so yes, she can knock the mid to long-range jumper down and score off the dribble yet she also can run both the 1 and the 2, she understands how to control the tempo and she sees the floor Tatianna Brown-5’9 F (Shooting Starz) Brown just amazed me the first time I saw her come from nowhere to block a shot and if posterizing someone in an initial meeting doesn’t stick with me, well it does so let me add the fact that she’s "long and athletic" with a deceptive first step and when you add her strides, she’s at the rim from the wing at a blink of an eye. She also creates the jumper and plays, drumroll please, the passing lane Breanna Silas-5’7 G (Texas U Houston) 2022 Silas is nowhere in my database, probably kept it moving because I didn’t have a roster, well I still didn’t have one but in those instances where you SHOW me what you can do, I’ll definitely ask and she’s explosive with the ball, she attacks fiercely and finishes strongly but she also does a good job creating her shot and her jumper is nice, the release is quick and accurate plus she defends [player_tooltip player_id="267342" first="Jaydan" last="Davenport"]-6’0 PF (Lady Thunder-King) 2023 Davenport already has the hashtag #BEAST, I don’t care what the setting is, what the score is, or anything the novice would miss, she plays HARD no matter what and that is a definite #THROWBACK player. Watching her go after the ball off the rim, not just being stationary hoping it comes to her is just enjoyable for me to see because evidently it ain’t being taught yet again, it shouldn’t have to be because #DESIRE also grabs the hashtag. She finished with players hanging on her in the paint, even out it on the floor to score Karley Cook-5’8 F (365 Elite White-Tran) 2023 Cook has the right initials because KC brought the Sunshine going down the court to drop the 15 footers to send the game into overtime, her team won it by the way, and talking to her afterward she said "I wasn’t sure if I wanted to attack the rim or take the jumper" yet she was confident enough to drop it, she had shown she could do it during the game already so it was a good call, so was her defense and rebounding Jernye McZeal-5’9 G/$ (Texas U Houston) 2024 McZeal falls into the "I know your people" category and nepotism has nothing to do with me adding her on the next update for PGH Top 100. She’s long and athletic, she elevates on her jumper and knocks it down, she can take defenders with either hand off the dribble and she defends, on-ball, baseline to baseline yet she also has good timing, blocked shots, and intercepted passes, aka played the passing lane and what I like even more is her UPSIDE
