Ayala (14-4) 57, San Dimas (12-6) 54
CIFSS 3A Championship Game
Location: Ayala High School
2021, 5’7, SG, Ayala HS, Emma Lazaro - She lived up to what she was suppose to be, a shooter by any means necessary, but she had a rough night, meaning she could not make a shot to save her life. She opened it back up in the late parts of the game and hit a shot that would change the game forever and give them a CIFSS 3A Championship to boot. She handled the ball well and did not turn it over, she played some decent defense for her team and kept her teammates spirits up even when she was struggling.
Results for the Game:
Long Beach Poly (16-2) 80, Esperanza (21-3) 52
CIFSS 1A Championship Game
Location: Long Beach Poly High School
2021, 5’9, PG, Long Beach Poly HS, Kalaya Buggs - Buggs is another strong wing who can play guard and some small forward. She is a good rebounder for a wing. She has a stronger playmaking game; she’s comfortable with the ball in her hands and making plays for others. She can get her own shot when she wants to whether that’s attacking the rim, pulling up for a jumper, or shooting from the outside.
2021, 5’10, SF, Long Beach Poly HS, [player_tooltip player_id="160302" first="Lily" last="Buggs"] - Lily is tough as nails, she is offensive and defensive minded, taught and demanded by her coach. She is fast, strong and can handle the ball well, she shoots it with some consistency and is a defensive stopper for real. Lily will turn heads again next year, she made a name of herself this season.
2022, 5’7, PG/SG, Esperanza HS, Alyssa Kubo - This kid is very deceptive, she is gifted in the way that she can score of the catch, score of the bounce and can swing thru and get you off the dribble. She is very efficient and has a nice stroke on the ball, gets it off with a quick release. She is athletic and very good on the defensive side of the ball, she has many skills that make her very tough on the floor. She will be a top scorer in the near future, she shoots it very well.
2023, 5’5, PG/SG, Esperanza HS, [player_tooltip player_id="104204" first="Kaiya" last="Mack"] - Kaiya is a fiesty young point guard that comes off the bench for Esperanza and does not disappoint at all. The level is somewhat higher, because she is able to get into cracks of the defense and pass out to shooters or finish herself. Plays with a lot of confidence in her teams offensive set, which makes her pretty efficient on the floor for her coach and teammates.
