Youtube Evals: June 2021 By Michael Wholey 6/8/21 12:00 PM EST In the COVID-19 2020 world we are living in, video and highlight films have become more and more prominent and important. We will be posting evaluations from the videos weekly. This month, we take a look at some of the new highlight videos that have been sent to us or posted in June. Class of 2022 Tanner Bost – 5’5 PG/SG (The Rock School / Sharing Out Savior) 2021 Jacksonville Magic May Madness Tournament Highlights Aggressive, attacking combo guard who plays well in the open court and attacking the rim downhill. She is a tough, gritty defender who plays aggressive on ball defense. Love the fearlessness she plays with on both ends of the floor and the energy she gives to her teammates. Very coachable, selfless player who does all the little things that you want in a teammate and player on your team. Capable of knocking down 3 off the pass and off the dribble and has a 1-2 dribble step back 3. Video by @jmillercompany https://youtu.be/eVbL6DKC7Fs [player_tooltip player_id="154909" first="Amari" last="Jackson"] – 6’0 Forward/Center (The Rock School) High School Highlights – Junior Season (2020-21) Jackson has a strong, solid, athletic build who plays mainly on the low block and high post. She has already surpassed 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her High School career and was 2020-21 SIAA All-Conference and 2019-20 SIAA MVP. She is deceptively athletic and runs the floor well for a player her size. She has active hands and has a knack for being around the ball. She plays very unselfish and gives up the ball to the open player. Uses her size and strength well to impact that game 5 feet and in. Scores most of her points at the rim off of post ups, offensive rebounds, and layups in transition from running the floor. Video by @jmillercompany https://youtu.be/VoGFO8_3YIE [player_tooltip player_id="219952" first="Amber" last="Mateo"] – 5’5 Guard (Somerset Academy at Silver Palms / Miami Suns) The Bump Basketball Showcase Highlights (May 2021) Small, 5’5 guard with strong, compact build that is one of top outside shooters in Florida. She walks in the gym and is in range anywhere on the court. Quick release with high release. Has improved her ability to put the ball to the floor and attack in the open floor with both her left and right hand. Did a good job getting into the paint and creating shots for her teammates. Activity level on the defensive end has improved as well as she has ability to be an aggressive on ball defender and can run through passing lanes for steals one pass away. High basketball IQ with good court vision. Very well rounded player whose biggest strength is her ability to shoot a high percentage from 3. https://youtu.be/pNnbWfc1RjE [player_tooltip player_id="91597" first="Paige" last="McDonald"] – 5’11 Wing (Cocoa HS / Miami Suns) 2020-21 High School and 2021 Travel Team Highlights Long, athletic, versatile wing who can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. She has nice shooting form with a soft touch and can knock it down from 15 feet all the way out to 3. Her length and athleticism are put on display on the defensive end as a rebounder, shot blocker and all-around active defender. Her energy and activity level are x-factors for her. When playing hard and with a lot of energy she impacts the game in a big way on both ends of the floor and has potential to be a mid-major D1 prospect. I think her best basketball is ahead of her and has a big upside! Video by @jmillercompany https://youtu.be/c_MIt4mAeKU [player_tooltip player_id="220011" first="Maya" last="Williams"] – 5’4 Guard (St. Thomas Aquinas / Miami Suns) High School Highlights – Junior Season (2020-21) Maya is a feisty 5’4 combo guard that is an active defender. She does a great job playing passing lanes and crowding opposing players personal space. She has good anticipation skills and does a good job in denial one pass away. As an offensive player she has good shooting form with a quick release. Her biggest strength is the catch and shoot 3 but she can also knock down the 1 dribble shot fake as well as get into the paint to shoot the floater or score at the rim. Athletic player that thrives in a pressure orientated defense and an up-tempo offense. Was a starter for Florida State Champions St. Thomas Aquinas and highlights are from her Junior season. Video by @SUTSReport https://youtu.be/dbQUtlQ7qdY Grace Wener – 6’2 Wing/Forward (COLCA) High School Highlights – Junior Season (2020-21) Very long, versatile wing/forward that can play inside and out. She uses her height and length to play inside and post up smaller players as well as be an impact offensive and defensive rebounder. Shoots a high percentage if allowed to go over her left shoulder and finish with her right hand. Her versatility is showcased when she takes defensive rebounds and starts the break, showing off her ability to handle the ball in the open court. She is a solid perimeter shooter that can knock it down from the high post, short corner, and from 3. Averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds per game for a very strong COLCA squad that went 14-7 on the season. https://youtu.be/bcHLD0RHDU8 Class of 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="248293" first="Paige" last="Atwater"] – Shooting Guard (Tampa Thunder) Travel Team Highlights – April/May 2021 Long shooting guard who has deep 3-point range. She is most dangerous on the wing with her teammates setting her up off a penetrate and kick for the perimeter 3. She can put the ball to the floor and attack off the dribble. Her height and length are big strengths as she can shoot above most of her defenders and get her shot off without being affected by opposing defenses. https://youtu.be/Rr2tn4hY05k If you have a highlight film on Youtube send to us directly at WholeyPrepHoops@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter at @WholeyPrepHoops. We are working hard to make the @SUTSReport Youtube channel a main source for college coaches.
