She was in the 6th grade and would always come up to me talking basketball and to be honest, I was paying attention those first couple of times until one day I saw her coming and I said to myself, here comes Radio because she went on and on so I just listened to what she was saying, as a SIXTH GRADER and I overwhelmed by her BB-IQ at that stage so we go way back and when she tells me something< indefinitely turn up the volume and she gave me the scoop on Taylor Hicks who is coming back from an injury, oh my
2022
Jayla McCarver (Austin Elite Ice) Pflugerville HS
McCarver is at “the magic number” of 6’0 and her rebounding on both ends as well as finishing with contact looked pretty good, so did her defense
Alie Diop-5’11 PF (Houston Skyrise Stars) College Park HS
Diop is just under that magic number but her length and athleticism make up for it as she battles for rebounds and loose balls and showed she could score
Abigail Roscoe-5’6 SG (Houston United 2022 Black) Cy Woods HS
Roscoe showed she could shoot, play on words yet over many heads and that’s how just dropped it, over many heads so she has a nice release and understands how to create it and when to take it
Kylei Wolsey-6’2 P (SA Infinity Black) Harper HS
Wolsey was aggressive on the interior and she relished contact, whether it was giving or taking, and seeing her battle for rebounds on both ends as well as the finish was nice
Aaliyah Cobb (SA Lady Hoops Black)
Cobb as in “corn on” didn’t need any butter yet she was slippery sliding to the basket to score as well as sliding on the floor for loose balls. I’ll say it again, she’s one of the best “on the ball” defenders in Texas
Tamia Moody-5’7 G (Texas Lady Breakers Gold) Clear Brook HS
Moody doesn’t play that way, she excites her team with her energy and ability to make big plays, she sees the floor well and can attack off the dribble
Amanda Benjamin-6’1 F (Texas Lady Breakers Gold) Clear Brook HS
Benjamin has nice moves around the rim, she has good timing on the defensive end to block shots and she also finished well. Her rebounding on both ends as well as her defense was solid
Jada West (SA Lady Hoops Platinum) Brennan HS
west is showing she can dominate on both ends, that’s good yet she’s doing it consistently, that’s great and her college-ready frame enables her to finish with players hanging on her body
Daviyanna Jones (SA Lady Hoops Platinum) Stevens HS
Jones is solid on the defensive end, she plays the passing lane and does a good job defending “baseline to baseline” yet she also is showing the jumper as well as taking the defender off the dribble
2023
Erin Love-6’0 P (Houston Dream Elite) Houston Bellaire HS
Love uses her body well on both ends, loving her progression throughout the season because she goes hard the whole game. Her upside is pretty good, so is her mindset because she wants to get better and it shows
Tyanna Simpson-5’10 F (CE Elite 2023) Killeen HS
Simpson is one of the most improved players in her class, she has added more to her game with the attacking from the wing and turnaround jumper, solid rebounder, and defender
Branasia Brazleton-5’5 G (Houston Skyrise 16U 3SSB)North Shore HS
Brazelton is explosive off the dribble, she also can dish going full speed while attacking yet she also finishes well. Good ball handler, can score from outside and applies pressure on the defense
Biva Byrd-5’11 F (Houston Skyrise 16U 3SSB) Kingwood Park HS
Byrd is flying upwards, she’s a battler on the boards, love how she goes after it wherever it is and she finishes on both putbacks and using her inside moves, both after contact
Krishawn Lee Krishawn Lee 5'10" | SG Cypress Creek | 2023 State #47 Nation TX -5’10 G (Houston Skyrise 16U 3SSB) Cy Creek HS
Lee smoothly does things that may not appear on a stat she sheet yet she also does things that do like score from midrange, off the dribble, and on offensive rebounds but she also defends
Jayda Reece ( DC Queens San Antonio)
Reece has found a new home and being long and athletic, she made her presence felt almost immediately by scoring from the wing and playing the passing lane. she defends and blocks shots
Nia Reed (Principles First Select Red)
Reed attacks strongly from, well everywhere and finishes, well every way just about imaginable but her body control and court vision definitely added to what she brings to the tab;e
2024
Alysha Garcia-5’0 PG ( DC Queens San Antonio)
Garcia is just showing me how valuable she is every time I see her. She can run a team by controlling the tempo or pushing the ball, handles the ball, and sees the floor well plus she can shoot it from very deep
Madison Hurta Madison Hurta 5'8" | PG San Marcos Homeschool | 2024 State TX (Austin Elite Ice) Homeschool
Hurta is one of the top shooters in her class and she’s showing it over and over again by setting the defender up to drop the mid to long as well attack the rim but she also can score on the stop and pop in transition
2026
Taylor Hicks-5’10 C (CE Elite 2023)
Hicks is coming off of an injury yet had I not been told, I would have known and although it’s too early for the Texas 2026 Watch List, she’s one of the Top 5 off the top of my head, and here’s why. She’s playing up, she’s scoring against players heading to college. Like Bonecrusher, she ain’t never scared as she battles and finishes strongly and her upside is SCARY
