We are about to take off from the plane again with some coverage of a group of 2023 kids who just completed their sophomore year. These incoming juniors are at a critical time in the recruiting process, as college coaches are paying a lot of their attention to this particular class this month of July. Many 2023 kids have committed to colleges; however, there is a wide range of players that haven’t yet. There is a lot of opportunity for all of these players to get their foot in the door of any college in the country of their choice that interests them by sending emails, game film, attending elite camps, going on visits, etc. Let’s prepare for our landing as we head over to the analysis reports of five hoopers in this 2023 class that have lot of natural skill and talent. I call these kids "newcomers" as they are still young, the sky is the limit, and this is just the beginning. Wham!

[player_tooltip player_id="63049" first="Kenna" last="Mongan"], 5’6, PG, Cherokee, 2023
Kenna is a dynamic, swift guard who should have the ball in her hands at the end of every close game. She is a true PG, as she can deliver some nifty and talented passes (dimes) to fellow teammates. An extremely talented facilitator with great passing skills. She has deep range on her 3-point shot, and can really stretch the defense to top off a pure stroke. Her aggressive mentality to get to the rim and finish on the drive makes her a dominant scorer. She thrives in the open court and transition game, and can go the full length of the court to finish at the rim with superb athleticism. Would also be suited well on the wing as a two guard because of her ability to score and pass. A lock-down defensive player with quick hands and feet. A very natural player; who can play anywhere on the perimeter to give you buckets and dimes. Keep an eye on this kid.

[player_tooltip player_id="63039" first="Camille" last="Kruse"], 5’7, SG, Fort Madison, 2023
Camille is a highly skilled guard who is very fundamentally sound. Her full package offensive prowess makes her an elite off guard. She can shoot the 3 ball with, can finish at the rim with a great handle, and puts the icing on the cake with a sweet mid-range game. I am impressed with her ability to take the ball off the bounce and finish off of two. She can hit the pull-up jumper from any spot on the court. She also sees the floor well and sends out tremendous passes (dimes) to fellow teammates. Displays a very high basketball IQ. She also plays the defensive side of the floor tenaciously and can rack up the rebounds and steals. It is not uncommon to see her block some shots as well. I love her energy and fire she brings to the court. Keep an eye on the kid.

[player_tooltip player_id="63023" first="Finley" last="Fitzgerald"], 5’7, PG, Dallas Center-Grimes, 2023
Finley is another talented, natural guard who can create a ton of opportunities with her quickness and athletic ability. She is a high-level athlete who loves the up-tempo style of play. She can shoot the 3 ball, as she has a pure stroke with good form. Can also make passes (dimes) to fellow teammates, as she sees the floor well and has a good feel for the game. I see her becoming a pivotal dimension of the DCG Mustangs offense these next two seasons, and raising that scoring average enormously. Can be a nightmare on the defensive end by getting steals utilizing her quick hands and feet. Would be a joy to any team; as she brings that energy, athleticism, talent, and high basketball IQ. Keep an eye on this kid.

[player_tooltip player_id="63046" first="Ava" last="Meyer"], 5’10, PF, Iowa City Liberty, 2023
Ava is the definition of a talented forward, particularly a stretch 4 player. A lanky and long kid. She is a high-level hooper, who will be able to play inside and out against anyone in the country as her career moves on. I say this because she is physically very strong, athletic, and has a high skillset that will continue to evolve. Her skills on the perimeter by being able to shoot the 3 ball with a great stroke make her a serious threat. She can also play inside with the uncanny ability to put up buckets utilizing creative post moves, specifically noting her prowess with her back to the basket. She is very fundamental and has a high basketball IQ. Keep an eye on this kid.

[player_tooltip player_id="63063" first="Liza" last="Schaffer"], 5’8, SG, North Polk, 2023
Liza is a pure, smooth guard who has natural basketball savvy. She is another kid with a great feel for the game and plays in a very relaxed, but confident way. Her ability to shoot the 3 ball with a wonderful stroke makes her an elite sharpshooter. She has a good handle, and can break down defenders to get to the hole and finish at the rim. Displays a high basketball IQ. A very athletic player, this comes in handy to pick up the steals and also cause disruption on the defensive end. A kid with magnificent upside in upcoming seasons. Keep an eye on this kid.
