Teams from all over the state of Arkansas as well as Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee were ready to compete. I was able to watch several teams in different age groups on day 1. Here are a few players that stood out and made a difference for their teams.
Azurea Seamster | 6’0 | Post | 2023 | Arkansas Blaze (Lafayette County High School)
Athletic post player that works hard on the low block. Works hard to rebound on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Can push the ball under control in transition and pass it on target to teammates.
Savannah Powell | 5’6 | CG | 2024 Arkansas Blaze (Emerson High School)
Wing player that can knock down the catch and shoot three-pointer. Handles the ball well and can get to the rim and finish.
Jewell Walley | 5’8 | CG | 2025 | Arkansas United (Southside High School)
This combo guard showed good patience on the floor. Good passer that handles the ball well and can score.
Emily Walley | 5’7 | Wing | 2024 | Arkansas United (Southside High School)
This wing player takes the ball strong to the basket. She has active hands-on defense while pressuring the ball. Does a good job of passing up the floor in transition. Can score in a variety of ways.
Riley Whittington | 5’6 | PG | 2024 | Arkansas Angels (Mayflower High School)
A true pg that keeps the team balanced. A great facilitator that’s a pass-first player who is unselfish and always looking to make the right play. Also does a good job of applying good pressure on the defensive end.
Reagan Henderson | 5’6 | Wing | 2023 | Arkansas United (Perryville High School)
Reagan is a good catch-and-shoot three-point shooter once she gets to her spot and gets her feet set. Her shooting ability stretches out the defense and creates gaps for her teammates to drive.
Karlie Cursh | 5’3 | Combo Guard | 2024 | Swaggin Dragons (Dardenelle High School)
Karlie is one of those players that accepts her role and doesn’t try to do too much. A great teammate that runs the offense, gives good effort on defense, but know when you use her athletic ability, especially in the open court.
