The final day of competition at the Run 4 the Roses Classic in Louisville saw multiple Missouri-based clubs playing for championships in their respective divisions. Here is a recap of Day 4 at the Run 4 the Roses and what those teams did on Championship Day.
Platinum Division
Blue Star St. Louis 16U made a tremendous run to the 2023 Aqua Division championship game before being edged by Boo Williams EYBL in the finals. Blue Star had to navigate through a gauntlet of talented EYBL teams to reach the championship game, defeating Kia Nurse and Kentucky Premier on their ways to the finals where they faced another EYBL team in Boo Williams. Class of 2023 forward [player_tooltip player_id="107016" first="Natalie" last="Potts"] (Incarnate Word) was a consistent force with her inside scoring and excellent 3-point shooting on the final day. The 6’2" Potts also caused problems with her length at the top of the full court press. Potts’ 2023 teammates from Incarnate Word; 6’1" [player_tooltip player_id="170618" first="Brooke" last="Coffey"], 5’9" [player_tooltip player_id="204491" first="Olivia" last="Hahn"] and 5’10 [player_tooltip player_id="267409" first="Violet" last="McNece"] all had their moments when they made big plays while 2024 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="202412" first="Allie" last="Turner"] (John Burroughs) was steady with the handles with good perimeter shooting as well. Lady Brad Beal Elite 2022 also earned a runner-up trophy in the 2022 Cyan Division on Thursday. Lady BBE was clicking on all cylinders in a 52’26 victory over East Coast United Family in the semifinals. 2022 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="162388" first="Saniah" last="Tyler"] (Incarnate Word) led a strong effort with 19 points. She used her quickness to get to the basket repeatedly while also knocking down 3-pointers. Tyler followed up with 18 points in Lady BBE’s 46-45 loss to Bay State in the championship game. Other Lady BBE players who played well on Friday were athletic 5’8" 2022 guard Alecia Doyle (Carterville, IL), 5’9" 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="107962" first="Sydney" last="Reddin"] (Holt), who handled the ball and hit timely 3-pointers; solid 5’10" 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="107967" first="Jaiden" last="Bryant"] (Incarnate Word) and 6’0" 2022 forward Azaria Smith (Vashon). Kingdom Hoops (MO) 15U came home with the championship in the 2024 Denim Division. Kingdom Hoops was dominant throughout the week, which culminated in a 70-52 victory over CBC UAA in the championship game. They really broke the championship game open in the first half with a barrage of 3-pointers by multiple players contributing to the onslaught. The dominant player all week was 6’1" 2024 forward [player_tooltip player_id="194406" first="Breona" last="Hurd"] (Waynesville), who controlled the action in the paint while also knocking down 3-pointers on the perimeter. I was also very impressed with 5’10 2024 guard [player_tooltip player_id="194419" first="Grace" last="Billington"] (Moberly), 5’11" 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="255499" first="Lauren" last="Luebbert"] (Marshfield), 5’11" 2024 forward [player_tooltip player_id="194421" first="Ashtyn" last="Klusmeyer"] (Hickman) and 2024 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="194420" first="Chloe" last="Bukowsky"] (Southern Boone).
Gold Division
The SEMO Sizzle worked overtime, but came away with a 43-38 victory over Team Stingrays to win the championship in the Denim Division. Trailing 36-33 in the final seconds of regulation, 6’0 2022 guard Lexi Rubel banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. The Cape Notre Dame standout sealed the win with four three throws as she finished with 19 points while stuffing the stat sheet in every other category. An unsung hero during overtime period was 6’3" 2022 center Kamryn Wynch (North County), who had a key bucket and some big offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive. Also standing out was 6’1" 2023 forward [player_tooltip player_id="193484" first="Tori" last="Rubel"], who had a big 15-point outing in a victory over Kia Nurse Regional in the semifinals. Class of 2022 guards [player_tooltip player_id="168739" first="Tyler" last="Conkright"] (North County) and [player_tooltip player_id="296933" first="Jordyn" last="McClellan"] (Jackson) also provided key perimeter shooting and excellent ball handling to the winning cause.
Silver Division
Congratulations to the Della Lamb 15U Red for winning the Silver Division championship in the Aqua Bracket. They defeated Always 100 Elite in the championship game. I was most impressed with the play of 5’11 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="202666" first="Summer" last="Yancy"] (Raytown) throughout the week. She’s a versatile athlete who plays hard and she plays smart.
2026s
The Della Lamb 13U Red squad won the championship in the 2026 Aqua Bracket Gold Division. Della Lamb defeated Knights Basketball Academy 52-37 for the title in a game that featured two teams from Missouri. The SEMO Sizzle 2026 finished as the runner up in the Blue Bracket, Platinum North Division.
