War Games was loaded with plenty of talent from top to bottom. However there were a few hidden gems I spotted on Day 2 Court 2 -Southern Sky Elite vs Fernwood. Here are the players that stood out. [player_tooltip player_id="311565" first="Brianna" last="Pelote"] I 6’1 I PF I 2024 I Fernwood Pelote provides the spark for her team. Goes hard every possession. Knows how to finish around the rim. Can rebound with the best of them. Knows how to finish through contact. Soft touch at the free throw line. Scored 20 points and grabbed 10+ rebounds. South Georgia hidden gem. Drakiyyah Lewis I 5’4 I PG I 2023 I Fernwood Solid point guard that controls the game for team. Knows how to feed the post and make the extra pass for scoring opportunities. Uses her quickness on both ends of the floor. Amayah Hamilton I 5’10 I F I 2024 I Fernwood Hamilton is a workhorse on both ends of the floor. Always getting to the 50/50 balls and creating extra possessions for her teammates. Does the little things that may not show up in the stat sheet. Finishes well on the block. [player_tooltip player_id="296842" first="Ava" last="Riley"] I 5’5 I PG I 2024 I Southern Sky Elite Riley is a great facilitator and game manager. High IQ. High motor. Can score at all 3 levels. She pushes the ball well in transition which leads to a lot of easy baskets. Knows how to penetrate the gaps and kick to her open teammates. Can shoot the 3 ball consistently. [player_tooltip player_id="296841" first="Aniya" last="Robinson"] I 5’4 I PG I 2024 I Southern Sky Elite Robinson has quickness that can’t be mirrored. Uses her quickness to blow by her defenders. Has a nice mid range jump shot if you take away her ability to drive. Great on ball defender. [player_tooltip player_id="296843" first="Kayla" last="Day"] I 5’8 I CG I 2024 I Southern Sky Elite Game changer. Runs the floor well in transition. Has the ability to play inside/out. Rebounds well for her size. Great court vision and precision passing. Handles the ball well under pressure. Go to player when her team needs a basket. Poetrie Dace I 5’10 I SF I 2025 I Southern Sky Elite Dace does the little things. Has a motor that keeps on going. Uses her length to get out in the passing lanes and create steals. Gets her hands on a lot of deflections. She makes it hard for her opponents to score over her. Can finish around the rim. Runs the floor well in transition.
