New fresh faces, well sort of. I’ve seen [player_tooltip player_id="134044" first="Amiya" last="Hopkins"] a few times over the years and glanced at a couple of others but I had a good look at these 5 talented young ladies to close out my day 2 at PBR Super 64
2023
Mallory McQuietor-6’0 SF (Texas U 16U GUAA) Keller HS
McQuietor is "long and athletic" and if you haven’t been paying attention, that is the base I use for certain players when I evaluate so the first thing that grabbed me about her was her "timing" both on blocking shots, as well as playing the passing lane, something I love to see yet she also handles the ball in the open court which meant points going the other way after the steal but she also set the defender up nicely in the half-court to attack and finish
[player_tooltip player_id="134044" first="Amiya" last="Hopkins"]-6’2 PF/C (Texas U 16U GUAA) North Crowley HS
Hopkins understands how to use her body and a plus, she has good hands and footwork around the basket so her finishes are consistent, even after the lick yet her rebounding is something else as she overpowers opponents for the ball, that speaks volumes about her strength and she does it on both ends of the court plus she runs the floor, on both ends and continues to elevate her game

McDaniel uses her athleticism very well, she can create her shot and attacks the rim strongly using a deceptive first step but watching her finish with either hand was definitely a plus, so was her defense as she moved her feet well in the paint to create havoc and it didn’t change as she showed she could apply pressure outside the paint, this includes baselines to baseline, on the ball
2024
Madison Caldwell-6’0 PF/C (Texas Elite 16U 3SSB) Desoto HS
Caldwell is strong, so is her frame and she sets solid picks and rolls nicely for scoring opportunities yet those opportunities also happen after offensive rebounds, yes she finishes after contact but she also did a good job rebounding defensively as well as playing solid interior defense
Aryn Roberts-6’0 PF/SF (Texas Elite 16U 3SSB) Allen HS
Roberts is long and has some pretty good timing but I enjoyed watching her play multiple positions. She creates her shot and can knock it down from outside yet she also creates it well enough to take the defender off the dribble to score. Her pressure defense "on the ball, baseline to baseline" was nice, so was seeing her play the passing lane
