Mariah Maxie 5’6 Midwest United: A quick 2022 point guard from Cardinal Ritter who was the most impressive defensive player at the tournament. Her on-ball pressure was excellent as she moved her feet well and harassed opposing ball handlers the full court. She even kept taller players from posting her up in the low post as she used her strength and determination to fight for position. She also attacked on the offensive end with her dribble penetration.
Ayva Rush 5’4 Illinois Lady Titans: A 2025 point guard from Southern Illinois who had a big impact in the Titans winning the 17U championship. She scored 12 points in the victory over Midwest United in the championship game. She was fearless in driving to the basket as she scored on runners and layups. Her overall floor game as very good as she displayed a lot of poise despite playing against older players.
Anna Burcham 5’4 Magic: A solid 2023 point guard from St. Dominic who scored 22 points in one of the games that I watched her play. She has solid quickness and a high basketball IQ along with the ability to shoot the basketball. She did a good job of keeping her teammates involved.
Hayley Ottenschnieder 5’7″ Midwest United: A 2023 combo guard from Breese Central (IL) who shot the ball well from 3-point range off the catch. She played a solid floor game at both ends of the court as she kept herself in the right position on defense to make a steal or play the passing lanes.
