The 2021 travel season has come to an end and we are looking back at some of the state’s top performing teams and breakdown their roster. This week it is the Wellington Wolves 2023 squad.
Class of 2023
Gaby Toledo Gaby Toledo 5'8" | PF Wellington HS | 2023 State FL 5’6 Guard (Wellington High School)
Toledo is a high energy player that gets after it on the defensive end. She typically guards the opposing team’s top scorer and can defend at a high level and willing to sacrifice her body and step in a take a charge. Offensively she is a talented penetrator who can get to the basket and create shots for herself and others off the bounce. Not just a penetrator, Toledo shoots a high percentage both from beyond the 3-point line and mid-range.
Naomi Cadet 5’11 Forward (King’s Academy)
Cadet is a versatile player who is a force on defense and can guard multiple positions. She plays aggressive and physical and is an excellent rebounder on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she finishes well in the paint and around the basket and has range to 15 feet.
Iasiah Suprius 5’10 Guard (Seminole Ridge High School)
Suprius is a big guard who performs consistently on both ends of the floor. At 5’10 she is an excellent rebounder from the guard position averaging 7 rebounds per game this past spring/summer. She is a well-rounded offensive player that can knock down the open shot from the perimeter as well as get to the rim off the bounce. She plays with great control and has a high basketball IQ and is a good decision maker.
Kylie Swick Kylie Swick 5'6" | PG State FL 5’6 Guard (Park Vista High School)
Swick is a skilled offensive player that can beat you off the dribble and get to the rim as well as knock down the open 3. She has a quick first step and does a good job getting in the paint, attacking the basket and creating easy shots for her teammates. Defensively, she is a tough and physical on ball defender who plays with focused intensity every possession.
Celena Cooley Celena Cooley 5'5" | CG Santaluces HS | 2023 State FL 5’5 Guard (Santaluces High School)
Cooley is a crafty guard who uses her quickness to get to the basket to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. She can also shoot the ball from deep! Defensively, she is a tough and gritty defender who does a good job pressuring the basketball and getting in passing lanes.
Kiori Butler 5’11 Forward (Seminole Ridge High School)
Butler is a physical and aggressive undersized forward who rebounds the ball well on the offensive and defensive end. She pursues balls, chasing them down outsider her range and consistently crashes the offensive glass. Offensively, she shoots a high percentage from the mid and high post and baseline and can put the ball to the floor 1-2 dribbles going right attacking the basket.
Class of 2024
Katie Nash 5’5 PG (Dwyer High School)
Nash is the lone 2024 on the squad playing up at the 16U level. She is a high IQ, crafty, skilled point guard that players with poise and gets her teammates involved, making everyone around her better. She can score at will, using her explosive first step and solid ball handling to get by her defenders and into the paint creating shots for herself and drawing defenders creating easy shots for her teammates. In addition, she was one of the team’s top outside shooters and is a high level defender, capable of applying pressure full court.
