As I always try to explain to people when it comes to rankings, the majority of the time that a player drops, it isn’t because of anything that they did specifically. More often than not, it is the players below them in the rankings who made a huge jump up. Those players are the ones that we are going to focus on today. The stockrisers that saw their stock rise from back at the beginning of the year when the last 2022 rankings came out. There are a lot of them and we are going to look at a few who made the biggest jumps. I should also add, this doesn’t include players making their debut on the rankings. That is coming soon. No. 10 (+33) - [player_tooltip player_id="211883" first="Maggie" last="Sockey"] | 5-9 CG | Crowder | @SockeyMaggie Maggie jumped from No. 43 to No. 10 over the summer and the work she did with her grassroots team (Shock) was a major part of it. Add in a commitment to D-I school Oral Roberts and it is clear to see that in the previous rankings we just messed up. I have to be honest. She is a baller and sometimes ballers at small schools can be overlooked. I’m glad that ORU didn’t overlook her. Sockey is a very, very good PG who has insane handles, poise, IQ, and vision. She does everything you could ask of a point guard and also has the ability to score from any level. She is a well-rounded player who is no slouch on the defensive end, either. The Golden Eagles got a good one and it was my pleasure to change the rankings to better reflect the level that Maggie is at. No. 23 (+35) - [player_tooltip player_id="211891" first="Chrissen" last="Harland"] | 5-8 SG | Stillwater | @ChrissenH Chrissen had to move up the rankings. When you have seven D-II, D-III, and NAIA offers, you are clearly doing something right. Meanwhile, I was doing something wrong by having her ranked down at No. 57. She projects as a High D-II level player and No. 23 is more suitable to someone of her skill level. And what is her skill level exactly? Well, she is a good-sized guard who is well-rounded in that she can shoot, pass and defend with seemingly no loss in ability. She is a very good guard who has a great personality and is a talkative leader on the floor. With an influx of talent, Stillwater is going to be a resurgent team this season and even more offers could be coming in for Harland who is probably running out of room to store all of the official offer letters that she is accumulating. No. 29 (+53) - [player_tooltip player_id="211915" first="Ataya" last="Casaus"] | 5-6 CG | Edmond North | @AtayaCasaus Pretty soon I will begin work on my first ever preseason rankings of the top teams in Oklahoma and *spoiler alert* - Edmond North is going to be in the top one or two. Who is Edmond North’s point guard? That would be [player_tooltip player_id="211915" first="Ataya" last="Casaus"]. Do I regret having her ranked so low previously? Yes. I do. Ataya is an absolute beast of a point guard. She runs the show, flat out. Not only for state semi-finalist Edmond North, but also for Team Trae Young - one of the best grassroots teams in the state (and on the PGH Circuit). The offers have been rolling in for Ataya who is a willing passer and very good defender. One of the best point guards in the class of 2022 also turned heads over the weekend at the I-35 Showcase and has a few college coaches that I know of coming back to watch her this weekend at the PGH Top-250 Expo. No. 36 (+27) - [player_tooltip player_id="211896" first="Ciarra" last="Aeschleman"] | 5-6 SG | Jenks | @CiarraAeschlem1 Back on July 30, Ciarra picked up her first offer from OKWU. It won’t be the last. She is a really good spot-up shooter who can absolutely drain it from long range. Of course, as you probably know, shooting ability alone doesn’t always get you to college. Aeschleman can handle the ball and does a great job of weaving through traffic and finishing at the rim. She is a tough defender who is strong and has quick hands to pop the ball out of her opponent’s grasp. Ciarra is not just fast, but quick - deceptively quick, even. Jenks is getting better and better and during her senior season, Ciarra is going to be a big part of their success. Also, expect a few more offers to head her way as her graduation year of 2022 comes up quickly. No. 37 (+49) - [player_tooltip player_id="211919" first="Peytin" last="Gilman"] | 5-10 SF | Locust Grove | @GilmanPeytin I saw Peytin last year in the state playoffs and she was absolutely dominant. She is one of those players - like I was telling a coach this weekend - that I just cannot figure out why she isn’t getting the love from college coaches that she should be. She has three offers (that I know of), but none of them (again, that I know of) are from D-II schools which is the level that I believe Peytin projects to - thus, the 49 spot jump up the rankings. Obviously, she has tremendous size for a small forward. She is a really good shooter, scores from all levels. Her calling card may actually be her defense, however. She is tenacious and her extremely long reach enables her to get a hand on a lot of shots and passes. She is a disruptor. Peytin hustles all game long and stands out on any team I have ever seen her on. I don’t know what you are waiting on coaches, it’s time to contact [player_tooltip player_id="211919" first="Peytin" last="Gilman"].
