The 6’1 University of Missouri commit was a member of a dominant USA team that won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U16 Championships in Leon, Mexico.
Slaughter enjoyed a solid week in helping the USA to a 6-0 record. She averaged 8.3 points and 3.4 rebounds a game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 33 percent from 3-point range.
“The feeling of winning a gold medal is so unreal and crazy as I have looked up to see so many great players who have done the same thing,” Slaughter said. “And to be able to win and learn from such an awesome experience is so amazing. The experience of being able to represent USA, wear it across my chest, and hear the national anthem is such an honor.”
Slaughter had two very productive performances in the semifinals and championship game. She had 12 points, two assists and two steals in a victory over Mexico in the semifinals. She was five of seven from the field and a pair of 3-pointers.
In the gold-medal against Canada. Slaughter had nine points and three rebounds in a 118-45 victory. She was four of six from the field, including a 3-pointer.
