2026
Camden Shields-5’4
Shields creates her shot so well under pressure now that I know it’s going to translate into her high school years because she does it smoothly and under control, the same way she attacks the rim and when you can take the defender with either hand, yeah, it’s coming yet when she has the pull-up jumper in her toolbox, that makes everything else easier because the jumper is also smooth
Beya Chase- 5’2
Chayse had me thinking about Confunkshun’s Chase Me hit from, well a long time ago yet she is being chased as she shows a variety of moves coupled with her handling of the ball to get open but she scores off the dribble as well as the pull-up jumper, that ain’t enough because her court vision is ahead of her years yet, even more, she outrebounds taller opponents by understanding positioning, chase that
Aysia Gholston-5’6
Gholston keeps elevating her game and she made sure I saw it, like that other SC up North, I see everything, and watching her utilize her body for not only powerful rebounds but powerful finishes had me smiling at what she’s becoming because not only of her strength and physicality yet her being under control and her defense was solid, inside and outside the paint plus she attacked and finished
Alissa Hilario-5’5
Hilario understands the game and also understands how to let it come to her which in laymen’s terms, she gets hers in the flow. Being heady on the court is always good and playing within yourself is huge, especially in crunch time where she seemed to wait for and her jumper was consistent when needed, so was her attacking and finishing, this includes after contact and with either hand
Jordon Rosenthal-5’3
Rosenthal is showing signs of being a “nightmare to defend” and why do I say that, because I’m not a novice, and watching her fall into that “scorer’s” role, meaning she found ways to put the ball in the basket, solidifies what I said. She scored attacking from every angle, she hit the jumper, mid to long, in the sets as well as in transition and she battled on the boards for putbacks, trust me
Peyton Obringer-5’5
Obringer O BROUGHT IT and the best way to get my attention is to show me you can play however keeping my attention is something else because of the countless players I’m watching yet when she did two things, the floater and finished using body control, that was it but actually it wasn’t because she sets the defender up nicely and can drop the jumper from multiple spots
2027
Bailey Burns-5’8
Burns was dropping the long ball with ease at an earlier event and I told her “use your size” and this time around, she was dropping the long ball yet again however she just went into it and attacked and finished with contact, called for the ball down low to finish, even scored off of putbacks so I think she has another growth spurt that will have her around “the magic number” but until then, I’m enjoying the magic
Amariah Ruiz-5’2
Ruiz grabbed my attention in the 1 on 1 by scoring, either from the jumper or off the dribble, as well as defending and that translated over to the 5 on 5 however when she started playing cornerback, aka “the passing lane” that got me going in a huge way. She handles the ball under pressure and saw the floor, under pressure and those pinpoint passes in traffic for assists were definitely pluses
Addison Perez-4’10
Perez gets the hashtag #SizeDontMatter because “she can play” and seeing her do one thing in the 5 on 5 had me drop my clipboard, well book, and that was cuff the ball and attack the rim, wow, so that highlight pumped me up, so did her zig-zagging through traffic handling the ball but she scored attacking the rim as well as from the outside, both by creating her shot, under pressure
Nilah Esparza-5’3
Esparza was in the mix and just found ways to be around the ball to create turnovers which led to offensive opportunities but she initially showed that during the 1 on 1 by getting steals or keeping a hand in the shooters face but “on the ball” defense during the 5 on 5, coupled with her desire, definitely stood out. She scored when needed but I love her upside because she definitely “gets it”
