That’s not to say that all of the players there weren’t athletic, obviously, but these three players just really made everyone stop and take notice. Enjoy!
Jill Twiehaus Jill Twiehaus 5'10" | SG Jenks | 2024 State OK | 5-9 SG | Jenks | 2024 | @Jill_Twiehaus
Our No.3-ranked player in the class of 2024 is deceptively athletic. Maybe it is her quiet demeanor that makes her athleticism come as such a surprise? Who knows? Either way, once she gets the ball in her hands it’s like a spotlight is shining on her and every eye in the gym should be on her. She can do just about anything on the offensive end. Jill prefers to step back and shoot it for now, which she can do because she fills it up at a very high percentage. However, I have a feeling that with her handles and speed – and with just a touch more aggressiveness – she could become an elite scorer at the rim. She is, after all, one of the most athletic players in any gym that she walks into. It really shows on the defensive end. Only a 2024, it is only a matter of time before this translates into all aspects of her game and she becomes one of the most dominant players in the entire state.
Taneya Howard Taneya Howard 5'11" | PF Broken Arrow | 2023 State OK | 5-10 F | Broken Arrow | 2023
Howard is long and strong and goes hard all game long – and yes, I rhymed that intentionally. Glance out at the court when Taleya is out there and she immediately stands out because of her speed and general presence on the floor. She gets up and down the court quickly and does a lot of the small things that a coach looks for from a power/small forward. She rebounds very well because she is extremely bouncy. She can shoot it a little and is a willing passer. She did a great job in a showcase setting with a thrown-together team of showing that she can play with anyone and is a great teammate to everyone. She plays unselfishly and works hard to do whatever it takes to get the W. Taneya will be a big part of what Broken Arrow does this upcoming season and coaches, you will want to check her out!
Kailyn Berry Kailyn Berry 6'0" | PF Edmond Memorial | 2023 State OK | 6-0 F | Edmond Memorial | 2023 | @KailynBerry1
Watching Berry play basketball makes you feel like you are watching it played the way Dr. Naismith intended. The fluidity and precision that she plays with is unmatched at almost any event I have seen her in and it really is just a thing of beauty. Where it takes a regular player say, 50 strides, to run the length of the court – it takes Kailyn 30 and she does it with a strength and gracefulness that you just don’t see. Berry can fill it up, too. She scores consistently from all three levels. She defends hard, with quick hands to pop the ball loose from her opponent. Her almost unmatched leaping ability allows her to block A LOT of shots which she swats with authority. In case I haven’t made it clear, you need to see Kailyn Berry Kailyn Berry 6'0" | PF Edmond Memorial | 2023 State OK play. Tape is ok, but in real life, you can fully understand the immense talent and natural athleticism that she is graced with.
