This season coming up will also be home to a handful of very talented players who have a chance to help their teams immensely, so it’s only right that a few of those players are picked to watch for.
Lindsay Steien Lindsay Steien 5'9" | CG Blair- Taylor | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-Blair-Taylor: Following a sophomore season where Steien was on average scoring seven more points a night more than the next leading scorer in the Dairyland Large Division, this is clearly a player who is a cut above. She is an extremely gifted guard who does a lot of creation along with her scoring. Her shooting splits could use some work, but if the confidence to get shots up and work ethic is there there’s no reason to think those won’t jump over the next two seasons. A little devil’s advocate for her shooting percentages being lower than one would like could just be because she is doing a lot of her scoring off the dribble.
Abby Thompson Abby Thompson 5'6" | CG Blair- Taylor | 2023 WI -5’6 G-’23-Blair-Taylor: Steien’s running mate is no slouch herself with a ton of ability herself. Thompson is an excellent scorer in her own right and picks up a secondary role in which she excels. She knocks down her shots from the outside and she also has a very diverse scoring arsenal. She gets to the line, the rim, and is comfortable with her shot not much more you can ask of her.
Nylah Lisowski-’22-Whitehall: A player without a ton of information on her, who led the conference in rebounds a season ago. The film I could find of her comes from her prowess in volleyball, where she is an outside hitter. From what I see there it makes sense why she could rebound at such a high level compared to her peers. She is an excellent leader with timing and coordination, along with that she is also just very athletic and the size she has makes her an extremely fun watch.
Liza Cummings-5’7 G/F-’23-Alma Center Lincoln: The third Al-Conference 1st team performer along with Thompson and Steien, Cummings has a case for being in their stratosphere as well. She had a very consistent scoring season, and along with that, she was also a solid off-ball defender who consistently picked up steals to get her team extra possessions.
