Trinity Schlueter Trinity Schlueter 6'1" Valley | 2025 TX -6’1 PF (Valley HS)
Schlueter did a little bit of everything, all well, to show me a lot and I like her agility as well how fluid her shot was as she stands over “the magic number” which is 6’0, and the novices who don’t why it’s magic, well it’s because it’s on the shortlist for the majority of the colleges and universities when you add talent so she rebounds on both ends, score well on putbacks plus she saw the floor and through touchdowns for baskets the length of the court. Solid defender inside the paint as well as outside plus she played what I love to see, the passing lane
Madison Borjas Madison Borjas 5'0" | PG Mcallen Memorial | 2025 TX -5’0 PG (McAllen Memorial HS)
Borjas got this hashtag the first time I saw her #sizedontmatter and why do I say that, because she can play and if she was 9 inches taller, she would be a Top 100 player nationally, she’ll be on the Texas list for certain but let me say this, her BB-Iq, her poise under pressure to not only handle the ball when trapped, to make the right pass or to take the clutch shot, all just mesmerizes me at times but her defense, on the ball, is second to none. She also plays the passing lane and applies pressure baseline to baseline for the whole game. Oh yeah, she attacks and finishes with either hand
Lyllian Walton Lyllian Walton 5'7" | SG Kinkaid | 2025 TX -5-7 SG (Kincaid HS)
Walton has definitely elevated her game and she came out in the opening game sending a message loud and clear. I tried sending her one telepathically but our signals got crossed and speaking crossed, she showed the crossover in transition that even fooled me yet her pull-up jumper in that same transition or dropping it in the half-court set was nice yet I’ve seen all of that, show me something new was the message and maybe she did get it because her attacking the rim off the dribble was aggressive yet under control and she finished after contact
Charis Phoenix Charis Phoenix 5'7" Jordan | 2023 TX -5’7 CG (Jordan HS)
Phoenix has that old song from Isaac Hayes my mom used to play yet “by the time you get to Phoenix” she’s probably already scored and that explosive first step in the half-court is one of the reasons and in the open court, you can almost forget about it because she has extra gears that allow her to score multiple ways on the way to the basket. The jumper looked good, she also can handle the ball and see the floor, numerous on the money passes validates that but she also plays good defense and when she plays the passing lane, you can almost score it with that speed
Katie Allen Katie Allen 5'7" Pittsburg | 2025 TX -5’7 SG (Pittsburg HS OK)
Allen threw a wrench into everything because I was just expecting her to drop jumpers. Well, she did that but she also did something else other than the mid to long-range, she created her shot under pressure to score off the dribble as well as attack and dish yet her ability to see the floor stood out in transition as well as the half-court set. She’s under control, she’s heady and she plays within herself yet on the flip, she reads plays nicely and is usually creating havoc which leads to turnovers. She also showed me she understood how to trap as well as stay with her man baseline to baseline proving Oklahoma is still OK
Taylor McAfee-5’7 G (Wylie HS)
McAfee definitely left a lasting impression, starting off with her desire which is one of those “intangibles” I speak about ofter simply because it’s something you can’t teach. She dives for loose balls, battles for rebounds, against taller players, and even scored off of putbacks yet she also scored off the dribble, she created her shot under pressure and showed the jumper but her defense should have been added to that desire because she was “on the ball” baseline to baseline
