Jada West Jada West 6'0" | C Brennan | 2022 State TX -6’1 C (Brennan HS) 2022
West has gradually added a variety of positives to go with her next-level frame over the years and watching her work on the court shows me exactly how much work she has put in. She punishes on the interior and has had several games where she simply dominated in the paint, on both ends and showed some of the same at the event. She’s finishing after contact, with either hand yet her rebounding, on both ends and running the floor has improved, so has her defense, both inside and outside the paint yet her BB-IQ is also good and she sees the floor well from the post position
Isabella Stafford Isabella Stafford 5'8" | SG Conroe | 2022 State TX -5’8 CG (Conroe HS) 2022
Stafford dazzled me with her moves and with her court presence because she found ways to get baskets for her teammates. the ball-handling wizardry allowed her to get to the basket whenever she wanted and her powerful frame enabled her to finish after contact yet she also could shoot the ball, mid to long-range, and when Isaw the step-back three-pointer, I took a step back wondering how I missed her yet her name was misspelled and I had the incorrect class, repeat after me, non-erroneous rosters are important but her ability to see the court and hit teammates was pretty important as well
Dymon Griggs-6’2 PF (Waco University) 2022
Griggs has been on my radar since middle school and as she heads off into the sunset, aka her senior year, she will send messages wherever she lands at the next level because she can play the 4 and 5 with ease, as well as the 3 in some instances, that’s because she worked on being more than just a back to basket player and while she showed she could drop the midrange at the event, her ability to take the defender off the dribble definitely was very nice. Yeah she rebounds and finishes around the rim but her outlet passes on the money as well as her toughness on defense all stand out
Raniyah Lewis Raniyah Lewis 5'8" | CG Conroe | 2024 State TX -5’9 SG (Oak Ridge HS) 2024
Lewis started the games off on fire, she was on the other end of the court and I was watching that stroke as well as the rhythm reminded me of that talented 6th grader I dropped #D1Lock on yet she has returned after an injury with a vengeance as she’ll definitely be moving up in the Top 100 but the thing I have always liked about her was her unselfishness, her ability to score in the flow, or just take the game over with either the jumper or some type of acrobatic finish that I can’t even describe plus her defense, on the ball, enables her to get steals which lead to baskets going the other way
Alexis Cortez Alexis Cortez 5'10" | SF Allen | 2023 State TX -5’10 SF (Allen HS) 2023
Cortez is another great explorer as she finds ways to just make things happen and first of all, she’s long and athletic, she can drop the jumper in transition or create it while being defended yet she also can attack the basket off the dribble with a variety of moves and finish powerfully. I love how she extends on her lay-ups, she does the same thing while defending, and with her size and length, that creates issues for defenders but watching her dive on the floor for loose balls as well as battle and outrebound taller players is always a joy to see and she gave me a lot of things to see
