Senior year is special, something we all look forward to when we’re kids. For basketball it’s a bittersweet moment because it’s your last year of playing high school ball. Before you know it, you’re graduating from high school and time has officially flown by. For a lot of these kids, we have got to watch them grow up over the last four years and mature both on and off the court. For most, by the time you’re a senior, you know the routine and everyone is looking at you to be the leader. At this point your coach trusts you on the court and your role has been established. These unsigned seniors are all top 50 Prep Girls Hoops prospects who have proven their worth on the court during their high school career and have shown us that they can play at the next level. College coaches should jump on these girls before it’s too late. We will be watching this group as they play in their final season. Point Guards [player_tooltip player_id="57914" first="Ronnie" last="Porter"] - Como Park, FBC Real 2022 UA Porter, who is ranked #17, has been making noise for years now, and has proven she is one of the best point guards in Minnesota. She is the definition of a true point guard. She’s the leader on the court and controls the pace of the game whenever she’s playing. She is the heart of her team and everything runs through her. By now she has perfected her game and can do it all. She is fast, really fast. On offense she is a multi-dimensional scorer and can get a bucket anytime on anyone. The 5’2 point guard can attack you off the bounce, finish with contact, hit the three or drop off a dime to her teammate. Whatever program she ends up with will see the impact she makes right away. [player_tooltip player_id="109124" first="Emma" last="Miller"] - STMA, Fury 2022 UAA Miller, who has a similar game to Porter, has also been playing varsity for 5 years, and has been on our radar since 8th grade. The 5’1 point guard, who is ranked #31, is great with the ball in her hands and has great court vision. She would be described as a very unselfish player and is always looking to get her open teammates the ball. The point guard uses her speed to get around defenders to the point where the help defense has to help. Lets just say she would make a living off of her assist. She is scrappy on defense and works hard every possession. Miller has proven herself over the years by playing against some of the best girls in the country, holding her own. Miller would be a great pickup for coaches who want to change the pace of their game. [player_tooltip player_id="109126" first="Dorothy" last="Stotts"] - Edina, 43 Hoops Elite Stotts has been a solid player for as long as I can remember. She is a hard-nosed point guard who controls the pace of the game for her team. I would describe her as an old school point guard where she can get a bucket but also has her eyes open for her teammates and would rather make the easy pass instead of taking it herself. Stotts, who is ranked #46, is 5’8 and has a strong build, making it easy for her to take her smaller defenders to the hoop. She has had to carry a heavy load at Edina for the last four years and has done it with poise. The point guard is a hard worker where you’ll see her in the gym quite a bit training and working on her game. Look for her to have her best season yet this year. Combo Guards [player_tooltip player_id="12736" first="Sydney" last="Runsewe"] - DeLaSalle, FBC Real 2022 UA Select The combo guard had a great impact during her junior year and also had a great AAU season playing with and against some of the best in the state/nation. She plays with poise and maturity; once she gets going she is very hard to stop. At 5’8 she is a nice-sized guard who has the body to attack the rim and hold her own on both offense and defense. Runsewe, the #25 ranked prospect, is known for her sharp shooting where she can knock it down from anywhere. If your looking for a shooter who can get hot, she’s your girl. [player_tooltip player_id="109145" first="Hannah" last="Herzig"] - Totino-Grace, Minnesota Stars Nilsen The 6’0 guard is long, and tall and uses that to her advantage on the wing. Herzig has shown signs of greatness, where she can’t be stopped. She has quick feet and good footwork around the hoop. The long guard, ranked at #41 on PGH, can finish in many ways around the rim and has a nice touch when she shoots the ball from outside the paint. I predict she’ll have a breakout year and be a steal of the 2022 class. Top photo: [player_tooltip player_id="57914" first="Ronnie" last="Porter"] of St. Paul Como Park
