I’ll go back and break some other aspects I caught from teams I caught that will make runs in the respective regions as well as players who may be the X-FACTORS on their squads but here are some of the seniors that stood out. Specia S/O to [player_tooltip player_id="135374" first="Jahcelyn" last="Hartfield"]-5’9 SG (South Grand Prairie) and Kaitlyn Duhon-6’0 SF ( Summer Creek) who were out with minor injuries but will be BACK!
[player_tooltip player_id="135362" first="Sydney" last="Love"]-5’9 CG (Cibolo Steele)
Love has one of the best mid-range games in the state and watching her drop it in transition is a work of art yet she also creates it under pressure as well as attacks the rim just as effectively to keep the defender guessing yet the long-range has gotten, well longer and see plays the passing lane
[player_tooltip player_id="314167" first="Heaven" last="Hayden"]-5’9 SG (Dallas Lincoln)
Hayden is one of the most underrated guards in Texas yet that ties into her being one of the most unselfish players in the state, that can play, yet when it’s crunch time, no need to fret because she has been known to score in droves and her explosiveness off the dribble as well as her mid to long-range is hard to handle
Mikayla Brown-6’2 C (Dallas Lincoln)
Brown has been a force to be reckoned with as she uses her college-ready body nicely in the paint to score off putbacks, yes she does a good job rebounding on both ends, yet she also has some nice moves around the basket, and with her agility, she also showed she could defend in and outside the paint
[player_tooltip player_id="96932" first="Maya" last="Linton"]-5’11 SF (Duncanville)
Linton is long and athletic, that’s always been the base and it always will be as she silently fills up the stat sheet but when you can play and you understand how to get yours "in the flow" that’s huge, especially on a squad this talented however her defense creates major problems because she blocks shots and plays the passing lane
[player_tooltip player_id="135381" first="Kiersten" last="Johnson"]-6’3 C/PF (Duncanville)
Johnson has had major jumps every year and falls into the "will be an even better college player" category because she has gone from a back to the basket decoy to a legitimate threat under the basket as well as mid to long-range so factor in her size and her ability to get her shot off whenever she wants, you’ll see
Dasia Robinson-5’9 CG (Horn)
Robinson did some "robbin and then some" in my "faint" attempt to play on words but her playing the passing lane and going coast to coast numerous times was nice, so was her attacking off the dribble and finishing using good body control, after contact so the pull-up jumper was the icing on the cake
Da’Lonna Choice-5’7 PG (Horn)
Choice definitely was my CHOICE for one of the top PG’s in the event, yeah she understands how to run a team, controls the tempo nicely but that that court-vision and pinpoint passes did it for me, so did her handling the pressure, attacking off the dribble and showing the pull-up
Emily Proctor-5’8 CG (Lancaster)
Proctor doesn’t Gamble on defense, hopefully, you caught that, but she reads it nicely and came up with several steals yet her athleticism played a part in that as well yet playing the passing lane is somewhat of a lost art, she got steals that way as well and scored off the dribble finishing after the lick
[player_tooltip player_id="65911" first="Breanna" last="Davis"]-5’7 PG (Red Oak)
Davis doesn’t have any notes because the first time I saw her in the 6th grade, I said #D1Lock and I ain’t been wrong yet so the progression, the poise, the maturity has been a pleasure to watch as much as that pull-up jumper in transition, mid to very long-range, her acrobatic finishes, her running a team and never taking a play off
[player_tooltip player_id="202485" first="Victoria" last="Dixon"]-5’5 CG (South Grand Prairie)
Dixon did a good job mixing it up at both the 1 and the 2 and watching her not only handle the ball under pressure but hit teammates for assist opportunities, is noteworthy because there was some heat thrown at her but handling heat is something I’ve watched her do numerous times ad she scored off the dribble and with the jumper
Anahlyn Murray-5’5 PG (Summer Creek)
Murray goes harder than the hair grease with the same surname yet she’s just as slick, slicing her way to the basket and finishing with contact to dropping the mid to long-range but she also saw the floor and in transition, you have to be careful because she can drop the mid to long-range as well as seeing the floor
Courtney McIntyre-6’3 C (Summer Creek)
McIntyre uses her body well in the paint, on both ends yet she’s improved on her finishing, with either hand, I won’t even say with contact because she’s so strong those licks don’t phase her but she also is running the floor on both ends as well as rebounding on both, let me add she throws the outlet nicely as well
Kameron Goodman-5’5 CG (Trinity Leadership Cedar Hill)
Goodman had me thinking, man it was good I stopped to see her squad as she showed she definitely understood how to put the ball in the basket. Her first step sets it up, she can score and finish well off the dribble yet she also has a nice jumper, from mid to long-range and let me also add she does a good job playing the passing lane
Iyanna McCown-5’5 PG (Trinity Leadership Cedar Hill)
McCown is closing her career out with a bang, just like when I first saw the potential she had in the 4th grade so seeing her prove me right before she heads to the next level was nice. She’s heady and she thinks a play ahead of the play, stay with me, so she understands if this isn’t there, that will be and she ran her team to a tee, scored off the dribble, dropped jumpers but those blistering on the money passes for assists were very nice
Honorable Mention
Aaliyah Campbell-5’5 SG (Tyler Legacy)
Nyla Inmon-5’11 SF (Tyler Legacy)
Viveon Pierre -5’7 CG (Summer Creek)
Mia Thomas-5’4 CG(Summer Creek)
Amiya Bowie-5’4 CG (Red Oak)
[player_tooltip player_id="135386" first="Taylor" last="Bean"]-5’6 PG (John Paul II)
Tyra Robinson-5’7 CG (Horn)
JaMiya Maryland-5’2 PG (Dallas Lincoln)
