The combo guards are up next in our positional breakdown of the top players in Washington’s 2023 graduating class. This list is part one of a two part list of prospects listed as combo guards.
6’1 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="115409" first="Adria" last="Lincoln"] (Monroe HS) has the length, ball skills and all around offensive skill set that Division 1 college coaches like. She can play multiple positions with some ability to play on or off the ball comfortably. Naturally with her size, I project her playing off the ball in college, but in high school Lincoln has enough feel and handle to play the point guard as well.
5’9 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="115419" first="Nikole" last="Thomas"] (Kamiakin HS) is a lefty with great open court speed and some defensive stopper qualities. She hustles, gives maximum energy and gets up and down the floor well. Her speed allows her to make plays in transition. Thomas has garnered multiple Division 1 offers.
5’7 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="332489" first="Peyton" last="Akins"] (Curtis HS) is an athletic, attacking prospect that can make plays in the open floor. She has handle to run the point, but shows ability to score the ball too. She has publicly announced a Division 1 offer before and appears to be a solid prospect.
5’8 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="144538" first="Baylee" last="Young"] (Gig Harbor HS) is a fundamentally sound prospect with above average footwork, handle and shot making ability. Young should have a big year for Gig Harbor High School, in what will be a "breakout year" for the junior after not really having a sophomore high school season due to the pandemic.
