With the Dakotas Top 250 Expo over with, we’re still left with the aftermath of a great basketball clinic. The expo featured a lot of great talent around the Dakota territory ranging from seniors to 8th graders. In this article we’ll dive a bit deeper into some of the top talented unsigned seniors that made some waves Sunday towards their stock.
[player_tooltip player_id="14254" first="Ainsley" last="Shelsta"] – Brookings – (6’5/C/2022) – Ainsley is 6’5… That’s it I could stop writing right there. She’s a paint protector and overall paint beast. She showed some good help side defense and was able to catch a few blocks from fearless guards who dared to enter her domain. Shelsta is your traditional post player that’s back to the basket and can finish with either hand. With some added footwork and speed, she could really excel at the next level of play.
[player_tooltip player_id="245564" first="Ivy" last="Fox"] – Parshall – (6’0/SF/2022) – Ivy was a straight Fox at the expo. She’s a 3-level player for sure. It was a joy watching her scorch from 3 being off the dribble or catch and shoot. Ivy can play inside bully ball as well. She was solid on the defensive end catching multiple blocks and ran superbly in transition. What was impressive about Ivy was her demeanor. She composed herself like an elite player and used her playstyle to back it up.
Hanna Miller – Aberdeen Christian – (6’2/PG/2022) – Miller is a 6’2 PG, what’s not to love about that? She uses her long frame to her advantage especially in the post over smaller guards. She didn’t display the most consistent jump shot, but she’s about to control the rock well and moves like a guard instead of a post. Miller looks good in the half court set. She cuts and curls well and can play anywhere from 1-4 on the court.
[player_tooltip player_id="99749" first="Kyra" last="Griese"] – Aberdeen Central – (5’4/SG/2022) – Kyra is a hardnosed defender. She really knows how to get inside her opposition and cause havoc. She’s recovery from an ACL tear, but she didn’t play like it at all. Kyra doesn’t know the meaning of the word stop as she ran around the court with a lot of intent and awareness. I think colleges really need to take a second look at Kyra and what she could bring to a program.
[player_tooltip player_id="99757" first="Tabor" last="Teel"] – West Central – (5’10/SG/2022) – Teel was a pleasant surprise. She showed she had the ability to play aggressive with some of the best talent the Dakotas has to offer. Her first step off the dribble and willingness to attach the rim looking to score or dish was impressive. Tabor displayed her speed and defensive awareness in getting back to stop ball or fill in gaps on defense as well. Overall a really solid showing.
