Here’s a look at Earl’s Starting Five from the Hoopfest:
Grace Slaughter Grace Slaughter 6'1" | CG Grain Valley | 2023 State MO 6’2 Grain Valley: The 2023 Mizzou commit showcased her vast array of offensive skills in dominating fashion. In the game I watched he play, she scored 25 points in a half, which included a personal 11-0 run in which she scored on a runner, two consecutive 3-pointers, an offensive rebound and a drive to the basket. She doesn’t have a hole in her offensive game as she can get buckets from all three levels. She can also score inside with her size when she wants to post up. An all-around tremendous talent.
Jadyn Wooten 5’4 Blue Valley: A 2024 point guard who is an elite, elite passer. She’s one of the best I’ve seen in delivering the rock. She can make the simple chest pass that leads to a bucket or she can get into her bag and come up with some jaw-dropping dimes of the no-look variety with either hand. She is one step ahead of the play as she knows her teammates are open before they know they are open. She’s also a bucket-getter who can get into the lane and score on tough runners and mid-range jumpers. She showed her clutch gene as well when she hit a tough jumper in the lane at the buzzer to win a game for her team by one point.
Abbey Schreacke 5’10” Quincy Notre Dame: A very talented 2023 guard who was very tough to defend with her combination of size and skill level. She had a little old school element to her game where she can back down smaller defenders at hit mid range jumpers. She could also drop them off with some slick escape moves in traffic and she had 3-point range as well. She went about her business in a smooth a savvy manner.
Ashlynn Amsman 6’0 Unity (IL): A 2023 forward who had an impressive array of offensive moves in the low post. She had some excellent footwork where she executed some nice spin moves and step-throughs to score inside. Her finishing skills were also impressive as she scored at different angles but kept good concentration on that rim.
Ada Koelling 6’1 Helias: A versatile 2024 wing player who has excellent height and the skill set to play anywhere on the floor. I was very impressed with her playmaking skills and 3-point shooting ability. She can also score around the basket and run the court with ease to get transition buckets.
