Continue ReadingPrep Girls Hoops New Jersey has finally reached the end of its 2023 prospect rankings article series leading up to the 2021-22 New Jersey high school girls basketball season.
We released the rankings list earlier this fall in preparation for the season and with the calendar nearly turned to November, we’re now finishing up just in time.
In this article, we’ll be talking about the No. 46-49 juniors in New Jersey for this coming season as ranked by the PGH NJ team, the final four players on the 2023 prospect rankings list.
No. 46: Katie Ledden Katie Ledden 6'0" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ , 5-11 SG/SF, Rutgers Prep
Ledden had another impressive season at the high school level and is going to benefit from a number of graduating seniors who left Rutgers Prep in the spring. She returns as the team’s second-leading scorer and their best forward option as small forward is her secondary position.
Averaging 8.3 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 0.8 BPG and 1.2 SPG last season, we saw a dip in production due to a strong supporting cast of players. However, with a full season to come this year, we expect Ledden’s numbers to return to form.
Her freshman year showed that she’s a dynamic guard who has double-double potential and can alter the game on the defensive end. Ledden plays her AAU ball with Philly Rise and on a team with that caliber of talent, we’re expecting a big winter from her.
No. 47: Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick 5'10" | SF St. Benedict's | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SF, Trenton Catholic
Bland-Fitzpatrick is a Connecticut product who recently joined Trenton Catholic and had a great sophomore year for the Iron Mikes, averaging 5.8 RPG, 5.0 PPG and 1.5 APG and SPG in the spring.
She’s shown that she can be a potential double-double machine and she recorded five multi-steal games last season, showing her worth on the defensive end of the court.
As Bland-Fitzpatrick gets more acquainted with the style of play in New Jersey, the numbers will follow. She has raw talent and great agility for a forward that allows her the ability to cover more space. That will benefit her greatly come this season.
No. 48: Maggie Mulligan Maggie Mulligan PG Haddon Township | 2023 NJ – PG, Haddon Township
Mulligan has consistently been one of Haddon Township’s best players over the past two seasons and this spring was no different as she finished second on the team in scoring, averaging a career-high 7.0 PPG.
She recorded four double-digit scoring performances and was one of the best players in the Colonial Conference at getting to the rim. Her scoring came exclusively inside the arc, and she led the team in free throw shooting as well, drawing contact at a high rate.
With four seniors graduating in the spring and a considerable amount of offense gone as a result, Mulligan will need to step up. She’ll be relied upon much more as a leader and her downhill style of play will be crucial to pick up points in the lane this winter.
No. 49: Grace Kowalski Grace Kowalski 5'6" | SG Montville | 2023 State NJ – 5-6 SG, Montville Township
Kowalski improved upon her freshman season in a big way and solidified herself as a vital piece for Montville moving forward as the Vito twins both graduated in the spring.
She posted a career-high 10.9 PPG as well as 3.3 RPG, 4.1 APG, 2.3 SPG and 1.9 made three-pointers a game, leading the team in assists and three-point field goals in the process last season.
Kowalski returns as the team leader in points, three-point shooting, assists and steals, and looks to pick up right where Bella Vito left off. She came into her own as a sophomore and based on that growth, we’re expecting her to take over the reigns of this program without a hitch this season.
