Top Prospects at Red’s Super 64 Showcase By Michael Wholey 10/11/21 1:00 PM EST Rob Walker with Tampa Thunder annually hosts the Red’s Super 64 Showcase. This year it was held at Carrolton Day School in Tampa and had over 80 individuals in attendance, showcasing their skills to a number of D2, D3, NAIA, and Junior College coaches throughout the day. Here are the top prospects we saw at the one-day event. [player_tooltip player_id="166167" first="Arianna" last="Mosley"] - 5’9 Guard – Class 2023 (Tampa Prep) Mosley was by far the most athletic player in the gym. Her athletic build frame stands out upon walking in the gym. She is long, athletic with a big wingspan and very quick! She is a versatile guard that can get to the rim from the wing off the dribble and finishes high at the rim. She plays well in transition and is at her best in an up-tempo game. She uses her length and athleticism well on the defensive end, applying ball pressure and contesting shots. Jadah Toombs - 5’8 Combo Guard – Class of 2024 (Fort Myers HS) Toombs is a young, quick, slender guard who is very athletic. She is a penetrating guard who likes to push the ball in transition and attack the basket. She has good handle and has multiple combo moves that she uses in the open court in 1v1 situations. She is one of the state’s top 2024 prospects and reminds me of a young [player_tooltip player_id="91500" first="Samara" last="Spencer"] (St. Thomas Aquinas / Miami Suns) that is a Freshman at the University of Arkansas. [player_tooltip player_id="219943" first="Renita" last="Harris"] - 5’9 Combo Guard – Class of 2023 (Tampa Catholic HS) Harris is a big guard who has a strong build. She plays with a ton of confidence and does a good job attacking the basket from the wing spot and finishing vs contact. Her body reminds me of former UConn and WNBA star Maya Moore. Her unique combination of strength, mass, height, and athleticism make her very versatile and a hard player to guard. She is a high academic prospect who holds a 4.4 GPA. [player_tooltip player_id="91581" first="Jaela" last="Davis"] - 5’8 Combo Guard – Class of 2022 (Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate) Davis was one of, if not the most athletic player in the gym. She is extremely explosive with the ball in her hands and has a very quick first step! Her length, body, and athleticism stood out in a gym of 80+ prospects and her game backed it up. She has a high upside and could potentially thrive in the right college programs system provided she continues to improve her offensive skill set. She consistently pushed the tempo, attacked the rim, got to the rim throughout the day! She holds a 3.4 GPA. [player_tooltip player_id="166212" first="Sophya" last="Barreiro"] - 5’5 Point Guard – Class 2023 (Colonial High School) Barreiro was my favorite player of the day. She is a feisty point guard that plays with a lot of energy and passion. Her communication stands out, even in a showcase setting as she quickly established herself as the leader of her team and was consistently coaching, directing, and encouraging her teammates. She is a skilled point guard who has excellent handles, good court vision, high basketball IQ, and knocks down the open 3. Her ability to be a coach on the floor, showcases her feel for the game, overall basketball knowledge and ability to step in and run a team. Her energy is infectious and I love her demeanor and the way she carries herself! Her positivity is contagious and uplifting to whoever she is on the court with! [player_tooltip player_id="248460" first="Alexis" last="Staton"] - 5’9 Combo Guard – Class of 2022 (Boca Ciega HS) Staton is a strong, athletic guard with great build. She played with a high level of confidence and was aggressive on the offensive end. She is a high-volume shooter who has a quick release and can put it from deep – several feet beyond the 3-point line. She has good handle and can create her own shot off the bounce. Her body is what college coaches are looking for as it is college ready and allows her to ready to be an impactful player at the college level as a Freshman. [player_tooltip player_id="243991" first="Phillicia" last="Jackson"] - 6’4 Center – Class of 2022 (Clearwater HS) Jackson was the biggest and most effective post player in the gym. She is 6’4 with a strong build and mass. Her combination of strength, size, and mass make her a load down low and almost impossible to move once she establishes position down low. She does a good job sealing down low, making it easy for her to score over her left should and right hand when she gets low post touches. She has the ability to control the paint as a rebounder and shot blocker provided, she can keep pace with the speed of the game. Very intriguing post prospect for any college program looking for a low post player with size and mass! We will look to continue to cover all across the state of Florida. Our audience supplies us with some of our best information. Keep us updated on Florida news be emailing me at WholeyPrepHoops@gmail.com or DM’ing me through Twitter or Instagram @WholeyPrepHoops.
