Tavia Stemmons – Senior – Greenway High School
Although the Greenway Lady Demons may not have had the most ideal last season, Tavia stood out above the rest with her 11.0 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 4.0 steals per game. These are some pretty solid stats for a multi-sport athlete that doesn’t dedicate each hour to the game of basketball. Stemmons may not rely on the three-point line for her points, but don’t let her get comfortable or she will not hesitate to knock a few down.
Hailey Connor – Senior – Greenway High School
Hailey is another athlete going into her senior year for the Greenway Lady Demons that caught my attention. Even though she isn’t the leading scorer with 8.7 points per game, she still makes a huge impact on her team through her 5.9 rebounds per game and 4.0 steals per game. There is no doubt that Connor will get scrappy for the ball after ending with a total of 40 steals for the 2020-2021 season.
Daziane Stevenson – Senior – Greenway High School
#24 Daziane Stevenson is another talented multi-sport athlete that plays for the Greenway Lady Demons. She only played in nine games this season but was an effective force throughout her minutes on the floor. Stevenson averaged 7.6 points per game along with 6.6 rebounds per game during her junior year. Two out of the nine games Daziane played in, she finished the game with a double-double, (Tempe, 12 points, 14 rebounds) (Thunderbird, 12 points, 10 rebounds). Something shocking about these stats is that the majority of her rebounds came from the offensive end of the floor resulting in a put-back or assist to a teammate.
Francis Moreno – Sophomore – St. Mary’s High School
As just a freshman throughout the 2020-2021 high school basketball season, #0 Francis Moreno made an impact on her St. Mary’s squad. With an overall record of 10-6, Moreno got into the game and held her own. She may not have been one of the leading scorers, but she fought hard on defense for the rebound and hustled for the quick steal. With 15 rebounds and 10 steals in only a few games played, I would like to see how she has grown skill and confidence-wise over the off-season.
Alyssa Estrada – Senior – St. Mary’s High School
#15 Alyssa Estrada is returning for her senior year with the St. Mary’s Lady Knights to leave it all out on the court one last time. Last season she averaged 3.8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game showing her to be a solid position player. Alyssa’s stats from her junior year are above the national average in assists, rebounds, and steals. It is time for Estrada to help lead this team to another successful season as a senior.
