Ellie Buffrey-5’8 G (HOMESCHOOL)
Buffrey is just old school and by that I mean #THROWBACK as I drop the hashtag because she plays “bigger than her size” and uses her skill set and BB-IQ to be effective. When you understand the simple things, they can turn into big things, and watching her diving on the floor for loose balls was just as impressive as watching her drop the long ball which she creates under pressure yet she also showed she could get to the basket, with either hand and of course finish, with either hand yet scoring on putbacks was nice, so was her seeing the floor and making tough passes look easy
Alice Conley-6’0 PF (HOMESCHOOL)
Conley also showed some “old school” stuff as she used her body well on both ends. I love seeing players not only box out but go after the ball off the rim, she did that and she scored after the offensive rebound multiple times, usually after contact but she also did something else I enjoy and that’s “run the floor” on both ends, she even outran some guards to break up plays so that’s a definite A for effort. Throw in her ability to understand when to switch her pressure defense inside the paint as well as the ability to step outside the paint and defend
Mikah Chapman-5’10 PF (Frenship)
Chapman left a lasting impression a few months ago when I caught her at an event and it didn’t dawn on me until I went through some old pictures but nevertheless, she first the profile I call the base, long and athletic, and more importantly, that’s the same profile many college coaches use but just watching her do things instinctively on both ends of the floor was impressive. She reads the defense, came up with numerous steals including playing the passing lane yet her timing on defense to block shots was nice, so was her grabbing the ball after the block and going coast to coast to score but she also does a good job rebounding on both ends as well as defending baseline to baseline
Kyndall Ragland-6’0 PF (Wildorado)
Ragland showed me something early, she could score multiple ways yet she also falls into that “long and athletic” category and whether it was inside the paint where she put together a variety of moves to put the ball in the basket or showing she could face the basket and drop the midrange, she had me going and then it happened, she started dropping the long ball from a variety of spots and I just smiled as she put together an impressive array of putting the ball in the basket so the rebounding and defense just added even more and with her size as well as skillset, she has some serious upside
