Some of the best scorers in the state are obvious, but there is a lot of talent that you can miss. So I wanted to highlight some good scorers that may be a little under the radar. This list is in no particular order, and it’s not ranked in any way.
Mayah Holzhueter Mayah Holzhueter 5'11" | SF Cambridge | 2022 State WI -5’11 F-’22-Cambridge: Holzhueter is a crafty wing that can score from everywhere. Last season Holzhueter averaged 19.7 points per game. Going into her senior season, she can improve on that by improving her efficiency, which she has done her first three seasons. She does a good god using change of pace and cutting tp fins easy looks for herself. She isn’t just an isolation player. Her size and athleticism also make her a two-way prospect.
Lindsay Steien Lindsay Steien 5'9" | CG Blair- Taylor | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-Blair-Taylor: Coming off a solid 22.7 point scoring season Steien still has something to prove. Playing at a some like Blair-Taylor means you have to have performances that you can’t discredit. As is Steien has a good scoring acumen. She does a lot for her team. I fully believe in Steien to continue to get better. The junior is also just 60 points from 1,000 in her career, and she may get 2,000 by the time she graduates.
Mahra Wieman Mahra Wieman 5'10" | CG Reedburg | 2022 State WI -5’10 CG-’22-Reedsburg: Wieman has had a busy fall helping the Beavers volleyball team to the state semifinals. Wieman is looking to improve on her 21.2 points per game and take the Beavers volleyball team to state as well. Wieman plays with a high basketball IQ looking for her teammates all the time. She is also a better shooter than I thought. I see her making winning plays whenever the opportunity arises, which extends to her knowing when to find her shot.
Makenna Rohrscheib Makenna Rohrscheib 5'9" | CG Regis | 2022 State WI -5’9 G-’22-Regis: Rohrscheib makes things happen for her Regis team by getting her teammates involved. Rohrscheib also is an excellent scorer. She does a good job using angles to attack defenses off the dribble without doing anything too extravagant. Her jumper looks reliable, and she can get to it off the dribble or spotting up, which is unusual to see her get as many spot-up looks as she does. Rohrscheib has an understanding of how to score around taller defenders. When going around the rim, she uses her shooting touch around bigs. Or she uses a reverse layup when it’s required.
