I had a chance to catch some talented players performing at the Oak Ridge Shootout, that was great and the school is right behind Babin’s in The Woodlands so no GPS will be needed in the future yet here are some of the standouts that I pulled up on Max Preps with numbers corresponding to their jerseys
2022
Kelly Tran-5’5 CG (Cy Ridge)
Tran did a good job taking the defender off the dribble, either in the set or in TRANsition, see what I did, yet her court vision is also nice as well as her ballhandling under pressure
[player_tooltip player_id="331939" first="Tianna" last="Murray"]-5’4 PG (Katy Paetow)
Murray has SWB and observing her blow by defenders handling the ball under control has been something she showed me from day one but her ability to drop the pull-up, score off the dribble, and see the floor is pretty nice, so is her defense
Emei St Laurent-5’10 PF (Oak Ridge)
St Laurent uses her body well around the basket and finishes strongly. She uses power and strength on both ends, rebounded well on the offensive and defensive ends of the court
Cenae Wright-5’7 SG (Oak Ridge)
Wright did no wrong using her athleticism to apply pressure on both ends of the court. She understands how to play "on the ball" baseline to baseline and she can attack off the dribble
Kayla Ngo-5’4 SG (Klein Cain)
Ngo does a good job creating her shot as well as knocking it down, mid to long-range as well as attacking the basket but she also sees the floor well and makes good decisions
Hayden Green-5’6 CG (Klein Cain)
Green doesn't see red meaning she never stops going after the ball off the rim and #DESIRE is definitely a #THROWBACK so watching her #BATTLE was worth the drive in itself
2023
Olivia Shook-5’3 SG (Cy Ridge)
Shook has the right last name because she definitely shook a lot of defenders to create and knock down her shot. I spoke with her after the game regarding her long ball shooting, she had 3 threes, yet she also scored in a variety of ways finishing with 23
Emma MacIntyre-5’8 SG (Cy Ridge)
MacIntyre is heady and plays within herself, she always has but she also has always been able to see the floor and make the right passes but let me not leave out her shooting, which she always could do, mid to long-range
Breanna Botello-5’10 PF (Cy Woods)
Botello grabbed a rebound, threw the outlet, and outran everyone to receive the ball back and score, yeah that's #THROWBACK and no, you can't teach it yet she was a menace on the boards, blocked shots, and played the passing lane
[player_tooltip player_id="331943" first="Rebecca" last="Meyer"]-5’11 PF (Klein Cain)
Meyer does a good job on defense, both inside and outside the paint as well as rebounding on both ends of the court. She's long and athletic, she can shoot the midrange and has good upside
2024
[player_tooltip player_id="206974" first="Taylor" last="Jones"]-5’5 SG (Oak Ridge)
Jones can flip that switch and drop the long ball multiple times in a row in a span of minutes yet she also did a good job of handling the ball and attacking the rim. Her "catch and shoot" also has gotten even better, high upside
2025
Catlin Wilson-PF (Klein Cain)
Wilson is "long and athletic" and she goes after the ball of the rim very well yet she also does something I love seeing and that's "playing the passing lane" and with all of that plus her energy, her upside is very good
