<p style="padding-left: 40px;">Green Mountain and returning Jeffco 4A Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id="95215" first="Jayda" last="Maves"] looks to win their third straight league championship but will have some challenging tests in 4A Jeffco. 4A Jeffco is always one of the top leagues in the state and sent four teams to the state tournament last year with Green Mountain making it to the Final Four.</p>
<strong>What happened last season?</strong>
Green Mountain (8-0) finished atop the league followed by D’Evelyn (7-1), Evergreen (6-2), Littleton (5-3), and Standley Lake (4-4). The bottom half of the league rounded out with Golden (3-5), Wheat Ridge (2-6), Alameda (1-7), and Conifer (0-8).
<strong>Green Mountain</strong>
Green Mountain returns the with a loaded roster ready to make another run for a state championship. [player_tooltip player_id="95215" first="Jayda" last="Maves"] (Junior) leads this group at 18 ppg, 2.6 rpg, and 2.4 spg. She is a talented scorer who shoots and finishes the ball at a high level. Maves has improved her passing and playmaking abilities over the summer. Senior [player_tooltip player_id="117693" first="Avery" last="Oaster"] is a force inside and a well-rounded player. Last season she averaged 12 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.6 spg, and 1.2 bpg. Oaster is a matchup nightmare for most teams and dominates the paint on both ends of the floor. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="316814" first="Shea" last="Murphy"] and [player_tooltip player_id="316812" first="Olivia" last="Sears"] are both underrated scrappy guards. Murphy is a slashing guard who gets to the rim with ease. She averaged 8.2 ppg and 2.9 spg. Sears is a 42% 3 point shooter who can get to the rim and create opportunities for her teammates. She averaged 6.4 ppg and 3.5 apg.
Green Mountain returns the majority of their Final Four team from last season; however, Coach Pitzner has some other players to watch for this season. Morgan Falconer (Senior) is a strong player who can defend all positions. [player_tooltip player_id="216664" first="Taylor" last="Ellington"] (Sophomore) is a shooter who had a great off-season and is improving their ball handling skills. Trina Loring (Sophomore) is a lengthy 6’ who can affect shots around the basket. Avery Freedman (Freshman) is a talented player who could find some minutes on the deep roster.
<strong>D’Evelyn</strong>
The Jaguars return with Sophomore standouts [player_tooltip player_id="216703" first="Peyton" last="Marvel"] and [player_tooltip player_id="216719" first="Macy" last="Scheer"]. Both players bursted onto the high school scene their freshman years. Marvel averaged 11.8 ppg, 13.9 rpg, and 5 spg. She has a relentless motor, great anticipation, and finishes at a high level around the rim. Scheer averaged 9.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and 2.9 spg. She is a big guard that can shoot the ball and is a tough matchup for most teams. Senior Maddie Topping has great anticipation, will continue to shoot well for this group and handle the ball. She averaged 8 ppg, 3.7 spg, and 2.1 apg.
Coach Olson is looking for Rebecca Taylor (Junior), Karina Li (Senior), and Chloe Klataske (Senior) to make leaps this upcoming season and become big contributors for this talented D’Evelyn team. Taylor averaged 2 ppg and 1.5 rpg last season but has a high IQ and put in a ton of work over the summer. Li averaged 3.3 ppg this past season, is a confident shooter, and handles the ball well. Klataske chipped in 3.1 ppg last season, is a high energy player, and provides toughness on the defensive end.
<strong>Evergreen</strong>
The Cougars are led by dynamic Junior [player_tooltip player_id="95211" first="Jameson" last="Mott"] who averaged 14.4 ppg and 3.8 rebounds this past season. She is a gifted scorer from the perimeter and inside. Mott is great coming off screens for a shot or creating her own shot off the dribble. Evergreen lost some Seniors who played big minutes and is looking for players in their young core to step up. Bella Reece (Junior) is poised to improve on her 2.8 ppg and 1.8 rpg averages from last year. She is keen at drawing fouls and was 3rd on her team last year in free throw attempts. Catherine Beccaccio (Senior) is another player who can make strides this season. She averaged 3.9 ppg and 3.8 rpg last season.
Evergreen has a good young group who will fill in for the graduated seniors of last year. Jackie Donoho (Junior) led the team in offensive rebounding last year and shot 33% from the field. Jennifer Lankutis (Senior) shot 41% on 54 FGA last year and could provide another scorer alongside Mott.
<strong>Littleton</strong>
The Lions jumped up the standings last year and are led by a talented young group. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="216728" first="Penny" last="Urquhart"] led the team in scoring at 9.5 ppg while tallying 5.6 rpg, 2.6 spg, and 2.3 apg. Urquhart is well-rounded player who will continue to become a great playmaker who involves her teammates and scores at a high level. She will be in the conversation for 4A Jeffco Player of the Year. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="318885" first="Dalana" last="Jakovljevic"] is a lengthy post who shoots well around the rim and shot 43% from the field. She averaged 8.3 ppg and 6 rpg last season.
Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="216656" first="Jacy" last="Chandler"] (5.9 ppg) and Daysha Sagrillo (4.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg) will continue to develop and help Littleton’s young core on both ends of the floor. The Lions and their length will rise in the standings this season.
<strong>Standley Lake</strong>
The Gators return [player_tooltip player_id="216723" first="Taylin" last="Serlen"] (Sophomore) who will be a Jeffco 4A Player of the Year candidate. Serlen is a skilled post player who commands double and triple teams. She improved this summer on her shooting, driving, and post moves to go along with her relentless motor. She will have major improvements on her 13.4 ppg, 10 rbg, and 3.4 spg averages. Grace Nguyen (Junior) played 25+ minutes per game last year and averaged 2.6 ppg and 2 spg. Look for Nguyen to improve her scoring as she was fourth on her team last year in field goal percentage.
Serlen will command a lot of attention and will open up scoring opportunities for her teammates. She will rely on teammates Cadei Beck (Senior), Desiree Trinidad (Senior), and Bayleigh Walling (Sophomore) to hit open shots.
<strong>Golden</strong>
The Demons are led point guard Maddison Bates (Junior) who is poised for a breakout year. Bates can attack the basket, is a high IQ player, can be disruptive defensively, and rebounds the ball well. She averaged 5.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 1.3 spg. Abby Greiner (Junior) is skilled post who averaged 5.9 ppg and 7 rpg last season. Greiner is a great athlete who just started playing basketball two years ago.
Coach Sena looking forward to a talented freshman class to make some varsity contributions as well. Kempley Wellman (Freshman) is a great 3 point shooter who had 3 game winning shots in fall league games. She can score off the catch but can also take it to the rim off the dribble. Brooklyn Carbone (Freshman) is a high IQ basketball player. She is a good defender, a passer who finds her teammates, and has a lot of potential.
<strong>Wheat Ridge</strong>
The Farmers graduated their top two scorers and are looking for some of their younger players to fill into those roles. Julisa Bezjak (Senior) averaged 3.2 ppg and 3.5 rbg last season. She shot 32% from the field and had the second most 3 point makes on her team last year. Karis Jenkins (Junior) is another player who could take a jump for the Farmers as she averaged 2.3 ppg and 4.5 rbg this past season.
Kadie Ramos (Junior), Ellie Uhl (Junior), and Karis Jenkins (Junior) are other players to watch at Wheat Ridge.
<strong>Alameda</strong>
The Pirates return two key players from their team last year. Junior Dulce Rios (2.8 rpg, 1.9 spg) is the team’s best defender and brings energy to both sides of the floor. Senior Miranda Trujillio (4.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg) will step into a larger scoring role this season. She led the Pirates in three-point attempts and makes this past season.
<strong>Conifer</strong>
The Lobos return several players who will look to up their contributions. Seniors Anastasia Satchell (4.5 ppg), Lexi Gunnufson (2.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg), Olivia Sinnett (1.6 ppg), and Elise Clark (1.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg) will all play major roles this season. Conifer will look to continue their development and move up the Jeffco standings.
