Opening day was long as I hit a couple of schools to try and catch as many teams as I could and as usual, I did a good job as I caught 15 of the 16 teams in Division 1, S/O to [player_tooltip player_id="135369" first="Victoria" last="Rivera"]-6’1 SG (Dobie) whose team I missed yet I have been watching her drop 30 footers since she was in the 6th grade and she’s heading to Georgetown. I also caught 4 of the 16 teams in Division 2 so, one more time, #ThereIsNoMe
2022
Kylee Norman-5’6 G (San Antonio Johnson)
Norman deserves a special S/O because of the grit and intensity she shows on both ends of the court. Her on-the-ball defense created turnovers and I love apple turnovers yet this was even better. She took a hard hot on day 2 going for the loose ball and was hurt "diving on the floor" again "intensity on both ends and that is something you can’t teach
Anissa Mata-5’6 G (San Antonio Johnson)
Mata was one of the smooth as silk shooters I caught with her San Antonio Lady Hoops club squad and throughout their squad, they had shooters galore, so watching her square up and drop the midrange with confidence was nothing new for me, oh don’t get it twisted, her long-range is pretty good as well yet also attacked and finished as well as dished but she played within herself and didn’t force anything
Laila Minter-5’4 CG (North Crowley) & Jaida Minter-5’4 CG (North Crowley)
Minter twins caught me off-guard, I love getting twin pictures so I can make Meme’s yet I missed out but I’m glad I looked at the roster because their games mirror each. They fall into that "never takes a play off" type of player, both love applying pressure on defense "on the ball" and both attacked and finished strongly after contact
Rachel Sarlis-5’8 G (Barbers Hill)
Sarlis is one of those players that just does whatever you need. She can rebound on both ends against taller players, she also does a good job scoring off putbacks as well as around the basket yet her ability to slice from the wing and finish strongly is nice as well as her dropping the mid to long-range
2024
[player_tooltip player_id="207488" first="Simran" last="Williams"]-5’8 G (North Shore)
Williams had to run the 1 last season due to [player_tooltip player_id="135392" first="Chrishelle" last="Washington"] being out with an ACL injury and to say she grew playing out of position would be an understatement yet understand this, she’s long and athletic and not only does she play the passing lane, she passed the ball well between the lanes and her pull-up jumper was definitely clicking, along with her acrobatic finishes
