Below are the stock risers from the Connecticut Top 30 Showcase. [player_tooltip player_id="296653" first="Ke’iara" last="Odume"] - Loomis Chaffee - 5’8’’ - CG - ’24 Out of all the prospects who attended the showcase, Odume has the highest ceiling. Her approach to the game alone should get coaches to rush in her direction. The ultimate workhorse, Odume was one of the first players in the gym and the last to leave. She has the superior physical traits at the combo guard spot: athleticism, size, and wingspan. Her ball-handling might be her biggest strength. All those aforementioned tools help her get past the defender, and the power and explosion off her drives are jaw-dropping. Odume is not the most efficient outside shooter, but with her work ethic, I think she can become a reliable threat from mid-long range. When everything clicks for Odume, she is in the top 10 conversation. [player_tooltip player_id="266715" first="Josie" last="Cancro"] - Hamden Hall - 5’11’’ - SG - ’23 Cancro is a big 2 guard who I already knew was a proficient outside shooter; but on Saturday, I thought she played good defense and was effective in scoring off the bounce. She uses her body well and has the power and strength to absorb contact and finish. Cancro converted a couple of impressive and-ones in which she showed the body control and concentration that led to the tough layup. [caption id="attachment_354132" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="299627" first="Juliette" last="Tarsa"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="354131" first="Nicole" last="Decker"] - Thomaston High - 5’7’’ - PG - ’24 Decker quietly was one of the best performers of the day. She does a little bit of everything and can impact winning in multiple ways. She is an excellent defender and rebounder. Out of all the point guards at the showcase, Decker was by far the best rebounder at her position. Decker is also a good decision-maker. Although one of the best slashers and scorers at the event, I liked how she didn’t always hunt for her shot. Decker facilitated well and got everyone on her team involved. [caption id="attachment_354128" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="299627" first="Juliette" last="Tarsa"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="299221" first="Nia" last="Edens"] - East Hartford High - 5’10’’ - SG - ’24 Edens is a big guard who can easily play the 2-4 because of her size and strength. She handles the ball well and is smooth in changing direction when attacking downhill. Edens is also a reliable sniper from three. She was consistently ripping the net on catch and shoot threes the entirety of the showcase. [caption id="attachment_354126" align="alignnone" width="300"] Photo: [player_tooltip player_id="299627" first="Juliette" last="Tarsa"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="354124" first="Sophie" last="Mango"] - Avon - 5’6’’ - PG - ’23 Mango isn’t a flashy player but crafty and shifty. She always finds a way to get to her spots and keeps the ball on a string the whole time. Mango’s a strong guard who is very good at playing off the ball. Her cuts are hard, she has good offensive awareness and shoots the ball confidently. Mango saw the floor well all day long, and her passing accuracy was impressive.
